So I read somewhere you could adjust the Flip Chip to the high setting and then could install a 210x55mm rear shock instead of the specified 52.5mm and you end up with 157mm of rear travel which is nice if you want a little more sag as well. I took the 150mm front fork and increased the travel to 160mm by adding a new Denonair 160mm spring so increasingly the rear would be nice because the Specialized linear stroke is so soft. I just purchased a DVO Topaz to replace the rear and it has a 52.5mm stroke but can be adjusted to 55mm easily.
Does anybody know if this is true for the rear linkage and shock?

Thanks and that’s pretty cool!
Did you have to put the flip chip to high? Did linkage clearance decrease on the shock side of the seat tube?

I thought the standard shock is actually a 210x55mm but is limited to 52.5mm stroke by an internal spacer so it shouldn't make any difference to linkage clearance. The difference will be on compression when the tyre will be slightly closer to the seat tube.

I’m running a 210x55 stroke Cane Creek DB in-line coil and have tried it in both high and low setting with zero clearance issues. I tried it with the spring off and the linkage isn’t even especially close to touching the frame. I’m not sure if it makes a difference but my bike is an XL 2019 Expert.

Hi, similar question: so with low setting (and shock 210x55) is sure to scratch the frame with the tyre? I mount the DVO Topaz but limited at 50mm, i want to remove the spacer.. Thanks in advance

I am also running the Topaz. I removed the spacer getting all 157mm of rear travel. I run it in the low setting and run 29x2.6 tires... ZERO issues.

I am having a lot of difficulty getting a DVO Topaz shock in 210 x 55. I have been trying since September last year.
I'm getting the distinct feeling from this thread that the stroke on these shocks is adjustable within limits. Is it possible to buy a different stroke shock and then adjust it by removing or adding a spacer? If so which one, or ones?

Hi,

yes, it's possible to add/remove token in order to increase/limit the travel.

Here is what i mean, but no idea where to put in when you manteinance the shock.
