Thats a great percentage ..must be a deluxe model ..
I'd guess mine runs at about 20% success but when accompanied with a " Get out of the F-'cking Way" at the top of my voice comes out at about 90% ..
The other 10% involves me picking myself up off the floor in various stages of disrepair depending on how big the bloke was ...

Frustrating when that happens. A group of hikers (16) blocking a fire road. A ding-ding bell doesn’t usually help.

But that one jogger wearing a white head-band and listening to his ear-buds…I hate that guy. 😠

Not to cast shade upon your gear, but I'm going to cast shade upon your gear. That bell is the kind that the local rangers give out in a feeble attempt to gain the respect of riders. The bells are too noisy when you want quiet, and too quiet when you need to be warning approaching trail users. Get yourself a Timber mountain bike bell. I've used a LOT of bells, and Timber is the only one that isn't a pile of bollocks. The down side is that everyone knows it, so everyone has a Timber. In the old days, you could tell who was coming up behind you from the tone of the bell. Now everyone has a Timber and they all sound alike. Anyway, nice shots.

The rock was too slippery. The gap was wider than I thought. The bridge was broken. The log was rotten and I had to hiked-a-bike through the boulder fields.
…and while pushing through one of the four boulder fields, three female hikers quietly snuck up behind me …I swung around quickly, nearly missing the closest hiker …I apologize for my language as they passed. I couldn’t believe it. FFS 🤦

Anyways, the ride down was brutal. Washed out trails . A few wrong turns. My wrists were killing me. I should’ve stayed in bed.
Now the ringing in my ears is getting louder. Ding-Ding

Trying to get more saddle time so I got a short 6.3 mile (10km) ride in at Phoenix Mountain Preserve (Arizona) this morning. First time working a ride in before work. Would have started earlier and rode a bit longer if I had lights. PMP is pretty ideal for me because it’s only 15 minutes away from my place, and the trails are just what I’m looking for in a morning ride. Don’t be misled by the picture, PMP is decently chunky.

Those boulder fields were horrible. 4 creeks crossing a popular fire road leading to a network of hiking and biking trails. The “atmospheric river” (extremely heavy rainfall) (October 2024) destroyed most of the fire roads. Funneling water down the roads and creating deep trenches (up to 12’ deep).

For almost a year we had to navigate through, around or over the destruction. 90% of the he hiking and biking trails survived.

Earlier this year work began to restore and repair the fire roads. Heavy equipment took almost 2 months to complete the work. However, some areas are almost impossible to reach at higher altitudes. Hence the boulder fields.

The trail volunteers will eventually built over, through or around these obstacles …but that will take time. It certainly makes climbing up these roads challenging on a mountain bike. Even an EMTB.
 
There was a cheap Cube "light" ebike with a Bosch SX motor on the local fb marketplace, couldn't resist, bought it.

SX motor power feels as excepted, definitely need higher crank rpm to get the power,my average heart rate on the same route as i do on my CX and Brose went up around 10 beat. BUT, the rattle is nearly unbearable. Most of the reviewer said, not as bad as on the CX, they are just straight up lying for money. I love when lot of youtube reviewer put music on the videos while they costing down on the trails... You cannot trust anyone these days with anything involving money!

The bike weight is very noticable, almost 7kg lighter as my other bikes, the XT brakes are fine, these schwalbe tyres ar not suited for the trails i ride, especially in muddy condition like today, had a front wheel washout already, the bar hit my leg pretty hard when I went down.

The paint on the cube must be where they saved most of the weight, because after one crash, i have several deep scratches on the frame made by wet wood.:oops:

Rode Hawes trail system today in Mesa Arizona. This was my first challenging riding, and first trip back at Hawes since crashing so hard here it required surgery.
Also, this was my first ride with the Assegai DH MaxxGrip tires. OMG what an amazing improvement over the Conti Kryptotal enduro soft I had been running. The Assegais finally gave me the traction and feel I was looking for since moving to the desert!

Waited to see if the wind would subside, but it didn't. But I took the drone out anyway. But looking at the angry ocean, it struggled when it gained any height, so I flew it close to the ground in stationary hover mode. It didn't track me well, cutting out the foreground, so there was little perception of height. And the lighting was poor with the cloud being really bright, causing exposure issues.

Anyway. I'll try to get out in lighter winds.
