No setting fire to your drone with a cigarette …got it
Started off cold, then got muddy, and finally steep.

Good question. Just went up about two weeks ago. I’ve never seen a drone up here. I don’t know why someone would risk hitting a branch or tree …and there’s nothing interesting to see.…unless you really like sticks and rocksWhat's the reason for "no drones"?
Well it's either for safety, security or privacy reasons and most lightly the latter since ppl can do privacy related stuff behind trees and in the bushes.Good question. I have the micro drone, the DJI Neo 2. It has a follow me function, that can follow you from in front, the side or behind. It great when you are riding alone to get some action shots. I just put it up for a few minutes. Then pull some still shots off when I get home.I’ve never seen a drone up here. I don’t know why someone would risk hitting a branch or tree
You make it all sound so easy i just figured out how to take a self photo with phone on self timer.I have the micro drone, the DJI Neo 2. This new one has collision avoidance sensors that seem to work well avoiding branches. But you can only use it on fire trail width paths, and only in remote locations where there is no one else about.
It's also great to work as a portable tripod, to get shots of the group. It only weighs aboout 160 grams, launches from your hand. You can use hand gestures to move it, to get the right shot. Then hold your hand out and it lands on your hand again. Pop it back in my backpack.
Yessss! Figured that out a few years ago.
I wanted that Kodak moment but I was riding solo. Setup the iPhone on a stump, stood under the ole saw blade, 3-2-1-click. I was so proud of myself.

And this is what I mean by a compromised angle. If you could have the camera higher, you'd get all those mountains in the background in the shot better.I use the native AppleWatch app Camera Remote so you can frame the picture from the watch face. Need a convenient way to position the iPhone though. The drone setup sounds really cool. Someday…

Yes I always used the front lense so I would crouch down and look to see if I could capture the bike and me. Then one day I had a brain storm and turned phone round the other way , wow I thought your the man today. The rest is historyYessss! Figured that out a few years ago.

The cleaner must love youI am not entering a space capsule but just the lift at the office today, after my usual commuting, most on gravel and country roads... Raining today, but pretty warm (6 C).

Yes, they do, because I am always polite and kind with them too.The cleaner must love you
Local bike shop lad has good drone footage ,being followed I must admit it looks goodI faffed about so many times trying to find a good spot to put my little tripod. And the height is always a compromise.
No faff with the drone. Hold hand out and press red button. Drone hovers about 3 metres away tracking your face. Point your palm at it, and move your palm, up, down, left, right and the drone moves. Two palms up, and move them together, and the drone comes closer. Move them apart, and the drone moves back. Make a fist. The drone stops and stays. Like a good boy ......Palm up and he comes and sits and turns off.
You can just film the whole time then grab a screenshot right off your phone. Or preveiw from your phone, and only take the shot you want. 4k 60fps resolution. It's really simple. I have never used the piloting mode, where I steer the drone.
But do you dare to throw it in the air while taking a selfie? You make it all sound so easy i just figured out how to take a self photo with phone on self timer.
If only it had been in a Northerly direction it could have been completely different..
You guys riding in the winter in the UK are tough!
We’re weather wimps here in Southern California. Here are a couple of pics from our recent “winter“ ride in Death Valley Natl Park -

Yeah, $3 at the dollar store. Some bikes, hikers and trail dogs use them. I don’t hear it anymore but hope the bears do.Is that a bear bell on your handlebars?
