Isn't it extremely hot there at the moment, do you get out early, take lots of water?
Oh ya, I usually leave the house by 8 and bring a full bladder of fluids.Isn't it extremely hot there at the moment, do you get out early, take lots of water?

Great write up Wayne ..not much more to add except to thank my Doctor ( gp) for suggesting the route ..otherwise we most probably would never have ridden it ..but its one that will definitely be ridden again .Great ride out yesterday in the Western Lakes that took in beautiful scenery surrounding Loweswater with @The Hodge and @drewbirks View attachment 144650View attachment 144651
This ride had a bit of everything quiet tarmac roads, fast 2 ply, single track and super fast grassy descents. Nothing technical but a throughly enjoyable ride that could be ridden throughout the year. View attachment 144652View attachment 144653View attachment 144654
The scenery was stunning in every direction with views over to the Solway and into deep valleys not forgetting Loweswater itself small but beautifully formed. All the better for being bathed in glorious July Sunshine.

We did a “there and back” traversing along Black Cragg with some stunning views into the valley bottom (not shown) and also rode the shorter loop both ways so a total of 22 miles and 2500ft of climbing.
One from Tuesday, can't fault this time of year. In the distance, you can see my mate on his from the future Zerode gearbox bike, sweating up the climb about five minutes after I arrived.

I think we must be. BTW, there's a very good trail through the woods if you follow the treeline behind you there. I was over this way tonight, the weather not so good.Seems we're from the same neck of the woods @RustyMTB

Looks like you are on the Bush Highway headed towards the Salt River in that photo. Hawes is right down the road, did you ride Hawes?

First ascent of a real mountain (Drum 2526 ft). Been on the radar for quite a while and it was great, really enjoyed it, pretty steep in parts but nothing too technical. Views from the top were next level. Would defiantly go back. Loads of info on google if you're interested. Went on a Monday so fairly quiet, few other mtb's and inevitable miserable walkers![]()

Don't ask yourself, ask them!................. I ask myself if you’re that effing miserable in such a beautiful place why bother going out at all……..canny rant![]()
Don't ask yourself, ask them!
Be all cheerful and say something like "Good morning! Isn't it absolutely beautiful up here, doesn't it make you feel glad to be alive!" Followed by "What's wrong?"![]()
An excess of politeness and bonhomie nearly always puts a spoke in someone's miserable attitude.
Well, it does to me at least!

I wish I had a bloody pound for every walker that I’d spoke to and been grunted, scowled at and ignored .
We always greet people we meet on the trails in a pleasant and whole heartedly friendly way……it’s the hard core t—-ts that think they own the hills that piss me off
Sorry Steve unlike you I’m not destined to go to heaven![]()
I always politely say "Thank-you" when passing polite walkers.Don't ask yourself, ask them!
