I’m in southern Mississippi visiting family for the holidays. Got to ride the local Mt. Zion Bike Trails outside of Brookhaven, MS.

It’s definitely a change to ride amongst the trees as opposed to riding in my beloved deserts of New Mexico.

Trails are fun. Some short, punchy climbs with flowy, short downhills. And other slightly techy ups and downs. Lots of up and down!

Yep looks like someone has put a tree right across the track ..hope you saw it in time ...😉

You’ve gone and put your Bigfoot in it again. Only just sussed it. Excellent visual gag😀👍🏻

Last ride of 2021

It's been raining here for a nearly a week. Here in Socal, we don't ride in the rain, so you can imagine my glee when the rain stopped and I was able to get in one more ride for the year. This trail starts off down in the flatlands, and climbs straight up for about 7 1/2 miles. Then it's 7 1/2 miles of fast singletrack all the way back to the truck. Wishing all you guys a fun-filled 2022.

Glad you were able to get one more ride in 2021! What trail did you ride? Live in San Diego and like you, was fortunate to get in one more ride. Rained on and off during ride but was well worth it. Normally I'm bummed when it rains, but SoCal needs it really bad.

Got first track in today

That is about 1000' elevation and could be all we'll see this winter.

The amount of options across the road, while not endless, are entertaining to string together in different ways.

17 mile Loop 12:31.jpg

17 miles/2400' ele gain and 1400' max ele, center right left leg. Not a bad way to finish off the year.

Back in the Cheviots today this time in the hills above the Corquet Valley

The burns are running full, and Hazely Law stands tall above the Usway Burn.

The local farmer at Barrowburn erected this stone plinth to commemorate a wrong doing many many years ago, the inscription reads,

Murder Cleuch
Here in 1610
Robert Lumsden killed
Isabella Summon
This is about 2 mile from a pub that used to be in Slymefoot at the bottom of the valley (that no longer stands and there is no evidence off)
I’m the lawless times of the Reivers.

A good ride out 🤙

Slightly different weather conditions to our last visit ..😁
Not sure if it was ever a "pub" at Slymefoot ..more of an illicit still where hooch was made ( I read that somewhere..probably in Derek Purdy's "Bible" ..Northumberland Mountain Biking ).
I've a lot of gratitude to extend to Mr.Purdy ..it was that book that got me out into The Cheviots in the first place..many years ago..
Glad you had a good day mate..

I was the very same publication that set me on my way into the Cheviots and beyond……always makes me smile when I pick the book up and see the bikes they rode back in the day.
