Last night's mad dash! Not been out for over a week.

Early dart from work, straight to Rivington Upper Barn. Straight up to the Pigeon Tower, continue up to the Pike. Winter Hill in background...

Then it was down the rough stuff and up Winter Hill. (View back to the Pike)

Took one look at the weather on the north side (raining heavily) so came straight back down the way I went up and made it back to the car as it got dark and before the rain.

10 miles, 1360ft of climbing, 630kCals...

It was good to be out! Weather has been appalling here over the last week.

This is on the Röstigraben, the imaginary line in Switzerland between French and German speaking areas. From Rougemont to Abländschen, high up on the mountain I found this fridge with ice-cream and it would have been total madness not to have some. Payment via the Swiss payment system, just scan a QR code and agree payment. Very Swiss.

Great ride out with my two ebike buddies today..EMF & Jaco ( Bolts Law route ..with a bit of Slaley Forest thrown in ) ..that is until Jaco had a bit of an accident ( see second pic ) ..yep a tree fell on top of him and he is 6 ft in the ground with just his head showing ..being a true gentleman he insisted that we finish the ride ..go home for our evening meal ..and if we have time call back later to dig him out ..otherwise tomorrow morning will do .
We have given the GPS co-ordinates to his missus and I think she is heading that way later to be with him until we can be arsed to go back ..its supposed to be a mild night so it should be quite romantic ..
The first pic is of EMF & Jaco on the moors shortly after leaving Edmundbyers

This is when disaster struck and I captured the moment shortly before the tree fell on his head...

I think we’ll leave him until after lunch

If Northumbria was benign, Lancashire decided to steal the show. Not too wet, but blowy, managed to dodge (most of) the rain.

I took the Green Hornet out as it was sh!tty (meteorological term).

Just to prove I am not talking male scrotal appendages...
Ugly Kid Joe.jpg

I call that one, "Ugly Kid Joe"!

Then in keeping with our Funghi theme here on EMTB...

Very cool UKJoe!
Did you see what I have done there?

Is your carrier on the back of your shooting-brake van, or do you have a tow-bar carrier?

Played trail angel to a bunch of riders coming through the desert on the The Dangerbird 250 this weekend. Only saw the first few, fastest riders today. They started at 9 yesterday morning and I was at about mile 200.

But, damn, what is it with bikepackers all being so damned tall?
