Wtf are those alien monster looking things o_O
Btw I've got family not a million miles from there in Tamborine.

The alien looking thing is a Cicada .
It has just shed its skin and morphed into an adult . They live for years under ground , then emerge morph and breed .

Mt Tamborine is one of the most beautiful spots in the world . Your family are blessed . I live a couple of hundred KM north from the Gold Coast .

Superb ride this morning on the Yorkshire ice fields

I was in lodgings in Lostock & used to get out that way on my analog Voodoo. Up around the pigeon tower & the reservoirs. Some great trails around there. ??

Fantastic day ?
What’s the large cone thingy? Is that a listening device?

The sign on the gate says its a flight safety navigational aid ..we do get a lot of RAF training flights ..not to mention Army exercises..
The scariest time I've had while on my own was being buzzed by an Apache helicopter ..?
That was in a more remote area of the forest ..he was just playing with me ( I think ) but it did have me pooping myself

Newstead abbey? 35 miles is a good ride out for our neck of the woods, I'm Heanor side of town and venture through felly woods to Newstead and back through linby now and again, there's not many mountains near us is there lol.
Yeah it was Newstead. Today I rode around the North of Mansfield to sherwood pines and down past Blidworth to ravenshead and back to Mansfield. Record 170 miles in a week for me on strava. Defo need a new rear tyre.

Fantastic day ?
Did you go down the black or just park your bike there for the photo? Love that they put the phone number of the nearest A&E on the sign as well, just to instill confidence. Went to Kielder for a weekend once, pissed down for the entire weekend, but a lovely part of the world. Stayed B@B at a pub called the Pheasant, I think it was called.

Bill ..I wouldn't ride up 571m to not go down the Black ..saying that I don't really know how it got its grading as it isn't that difficult ..there are certainly more technical red sections than that.
They might have put the number of the A&E on there for all its worth ..but you would have to crawl 9miles before you got a signal ! ?
The Pheasant is at Stannersburn and run by Robin & Angela Kershaw who are family friends ..our son's birthdays are 1 week apart ..
Don't let your experience stop you from re-visiting Bill .. the best time to visit is from October to the end of May ( the midges aren't around )

I like your Levo in black with red stickers .
Haven`t seen that colour scheme before . (y)
Thanks!

I originally wanted the Green but wasn't going to wait tell who knows when and medium black/red was the last Comp they had in stock. Need a red water bottle now lol... Green one is for my Marin Headlands 2 gravel bike. Must say I do like the black/red colour scheme.

Looks cold there…snow?
We have a pair of Trek hard tails (Powerfly 5) with the same triangle pac. Same flavour too. What tires do you use?

Nah, it was 57°F that morning. That’s just above our average winter weather here. Though, yes, on occasion, we do get snow here in the High Desert.

That’s also a Powerfly 5, a 2020 model. The frame bag is a custom build from Nuclear Sunrise Stitchworks out of El Paso. I couldn’t find anything that fit properly and so whipped up a template and took measurements for the build. It is HUGE. I love it!

I’m running Bontrager LT4 tires. They’re a decent multipurpose tire for both pavement/hardpack and gravel singletrack. I’m pretty happy with them. Though, tubeless and sealant are absolute musts here. You’re not going anywhere without getting flats if you stick with tubes, even the “thorn proof” tubes are trashed in a matter of hours here.

Nice! Practically the same except the triangle pac is a little different.
keeping these in their stall because the weather is nasty today. Might let the Rail out a little later.
