Wet roots are not enough for you eh , you need to throw in some ice as well Love those tyres.
Yeah it was everything, snow, mud, dry trails etc. 😀 and I agree about the tires, Piikkisika is just great spiked tire ❤️. I had them in my previous bike and even they were shit quality, they ride 10/10. These new ones, post bankgruptcy batch are better, little bit thicker casing too but still not even close to my summer DD/DH tires so have to be careful now when there`s not so much snow 😀

Not enough ice in my area to warrant a set saying that if I seen a cheap set I have spare wheels that are never used. I did a hill a couple years ago and lad I was with lives there he had a set on . I was hugging the sides of track to avoid ice he just bombed up and down the middle.

Well…after a month off the bike I finally got out, despite it being hot and windy

So good to get out.
Discovered some newly opened trails, too! Awesome day.

They need all that blubber to insulate themselves from the cold water. It works for seals and whales.
Yes you see a few thin ones but the majority are what we call Big Bessies. Not that I can speak like but I don't disrobe in public.

…and what the hell is a Curry Club? (See menu)
UK pub chain called Weathspoons. Famous for cheap drinks and food.
It was my local clubs Christmas ride and we started in Spoons for breakfast, did a stupidly long ride and back to the pub for more food and drinks.
Then home to the wife for an argument 🤣

Last bike run of the year and it was a topper. Left BCK in heavy rain with a lot of lying water . Forecast last night was light showers at Tarland. I'm glad I didn't look at 6am or I wouldn't have bothered. Rain all the way driving there. Checked weather on arrival, now saying heavy rain all day. Rained for a while not too heavy then totally dried out. Met 3 folk on trail maybe a dozen cars when I finished. Good day . Down to Red on TCU just made it.

When I woke up, it was dark and foggy. It was so cold that you wouldn't want to stay out very long without pants and shoes. Crazy stuff, I tell ya. It must have been about 48 or so. But we said we were going to ride, so ride we would!

The total ride was 25+ miles and 5300 feet of climbing, with plenty of excellent single track. The primary goal was a trail that none of us had ever ridden. It has the well-earned reputation of being steep and loose. You drop about 1600 feet in the space of a mile, and then about another mile or two of creek bed, which includes more hike-a-bike than you can imagine. I don't think I'll do the steep trail ever again, but I'm glad I did it. It was a skill-builder, and what I previously thought was steep is now mundane.

Getting ready to drop in.

Made it! Now only a couple miles of easy stuff to get out.

Moist air over the flatlands.

Probably last day this winter with summer tyres because we should get some snow again tomorrow …should have had spikes today also in many parts of trails.…And Little bit scary on rock rolls when you can`t clearly see if there`s ice or not 😱
