Call that an anchor?I don't mind a quiet road ride. Indian summer up my way if forecast runs true. The mind works in strange ways. The anchor brought back a quote from a long time ago. I started sea at 15 an apprentice on a trawler . An old deckhand said to me , you see that Anchor there drag it to the country side and when someone says what's that you know your far enough away from this ?????? Job.

Absolutely beautiful picturesWades Military road the Corrieyarak pass Ft Augustus to Melgarve bothy and back again. The 13 zig zags are in one pic if you zoom in . Fair slog in the heat today. Just made it down to 15 percent battery. Met a few young lads on real bikes rather them than me. Indian summer up here so had to be done. Paddle Loch Moidart yesterday. Traffic is horrendous in the west nowadays people in hire cars on single track roads and muckle big campers . Actually beginning to feel I shouldn't be there.

I spy something tasty in the background, 450 or 550While changing my bars from SQlab to PNW one of the two girl rescue cats (now 1 year old) we've adopted joined me in the garage. She decided to relax on my kitesurfing gear. View attachment 146901

Wife has a pic of my infestation but in spirit of decency I won't post it.We get constant warnings about Ticks on the south downs but that's the first one I've picked up in 20 years riding here. So far, no rash. Go me.
I had a similar picture on the one piece of exposed flesh just above my rear end with midges . A circle three inch diameter with a hundred bites . Got them taking tent down in morning .One of them nights I paddled in put tent up and inside by 6 pm and not out till tent came down in morning . Sadly had quite a few nights when I've stayed inside tent or camper all night. Still midges going about these past two days I got 4 small ticks out last night the inspector will have a good look today.Wife has a pic of my infestation but in spirit of decency I won't post it.![]()

Weight saving?
Very extreme and not to mention dangerous way of saving a few grams! The fourth one fell out after about 15 miles but luckily I had just moved off or I could have crashed. The spider etc came fully off!Weight saving?![]()
Expect better well one and only time I hired a Ebike and guide it was pretty expensive .Very extreme and not to mention dangerous way of saving a few grams! The fourth one fell out after about 15 miles but luckily I had just moved off or I could have crashed. The spider etc came fully off!
I was able to find the bolt and refit it and then made my way home - carefully checking the bolt regularly and sticking to the roads, which was a bit annoying as I missed out on some lovely trails.
I assumed I had lost the bolts during the ride but it wasnt until later that day when I saw the photo that I realised the bike had been hired to me like that. There was a bit of creaking and gear slipping but I never suspected the crank bolts.
Top Tip - always check a hire bike!
