Yes good couple of runs . Rain started when I got back to car. Had a short run at Balblair this morning as I was passing, some of black was shut. Never been there before.
I've never heard of Balblair before ..I love a bit of rock slab..but it would have to be tinder box dry before I tackled that woodwork ( don't know how many times I've come to grief on wood ) ..that said it does look good on this vid..

Some of black closed so I never seen the boardwalk. The blue was ok as well . I only had 40 percent battery after Golspie intended to climb Ben Loyal today but midge was horrendous so headed home I passed balblair so had a spin. Couple I met yesterday were on about it I'd never heard of it.. I would go back again if I was passing. I take bike most times when I'm going anywhere for the weekend on my own ,don't like the idea of passing something I could cycle. Lot of technical up rock riding I had a fair amount of pedal strikes.

That looks like its great fun.

There was supposed to be a meteor shower last night ..which I didn't get to see..but this sunset more than made up for it at the bottom of my garden ..😃

Yes i was away in van for the night total cloud cover when I looked out. Had mega Northern lights beside me two nights ago missed that as per usual.

Apologies first of all to Colin as I had already said that I wouldn't be riding again until I'd got my rear wheel issues sorted ..but early this morning @The EMF contacted me to say that he was able to make a ride today and said the magic words " Bolts Law" ( one of my favourite trails anywhere ..not just in the North East ) ..so decided to risk one more ride before getting it fixed .
It could have easily back-fired ..but didn't and instead the mtb gods blessed us with dry & dusty trails which were so so good and totally worth the risk ..
Once again the 5km road section was sacrificed for a there & back to the top of Bolts Law & beyond ..then transporting the bikes to Blanchland for Slaley & The Carriers Way ..

A brilliant ride out today out of Edmundbyers and Blanchland. This was going to be a solo ride but on checking my phone at 06.30 @The Hodge informed that he had decided to join me even though with a slightly buckled wheel and two broken spokes in the rear wheel this could have spelt disaster…….but it didn’t

The pics above are on the climb to Bolts Law into a brisk cool headwind, the trails dry, dusty and fast. We completed a there and back starting from the small parking spot in Edmundbyers that Neil has done many times. The climb was excellent so dry and no bogs to slow the pace. The return with the wind behind us was so fast, very loose and with rocky shoots joined up by narrow technical singletrack it was great fun.
We then hoyed the bike back in the cars and drove to Blanchland and headed to Slaley via a BOAT ( bridleway open to all traffic ) from Penypipe farm which again was fast dusty and with deep sandy/ loam stretches so easy to wash out on was enjoyable IMG_8385.jpegIMG_8386.jpeg
Neil through a less technical part of the singletrack we rode on.
Then onto sublime moorland singletrack over
Burntsheilhaugh Fell and Birkside Fell back to penypipe farm

If there is a better couple of miles of open Moorland single track then I’ve yet to ride it.
A great day out super fast dry trails a total blast and even made better with the surprise company of @The Hodge.
Cheers mate and thanks for the pint.

The bridge of death. It's so lopsided. But a nice view from it.

There is an old abandoned Hwy in the middle of the bush. This is the old Princes Hwy that was the only road South out of Sydney many years ago.

And you know it's been a great day, when you get back to the car, and the bike looks like this. So I celebrated with an EMTB breakfast of Champions ......... 😊
