hi everyone

I have a problem with my AXS seat post order.

I eat CR32 batteries like hotcakes! 3 in 2 months to be exact.

I told myself that it could be due to the cold because my mountain bike was parked in my garage which is semi-insulated.

But on the one hand, the temperature never drops below 12 degrees.

And on the other hand, I don't have this problem with the pod battery which controls the transmission ((I'm in GX T TYPE).

Who has any idea what the cause of the problem is?

Thanks for your help.

Bearing in mind that I know absolutely nothing about AXS seat posts - perhaps the seat post is draining the batteries while in the garage? If so, is there any way of turning off the seat post while not being used?

It's not stupid. but the asx seat post is equipped with an automatic sleep readout....
Or maybe there's something I'm missing.

I just checked. this cannot be configured. this standby is automatic.

I had this exact issue today. Started riding and no gear selection. Light on the DR, but no light on the handlebar switch.
The app showed the battery was ok, but changing it cured the problem.
I've never had an issue through the summer and had renewed the battery in November.
My thoughts on this is that the CR2032 suffered being in the cold outside garage.
Are you sure your area in France didn't see lower than 12 degrees this winter?
I also wonder if the Energiser brand I removed has a shorter life than the Duracell's I normally use.

As far as I know axs batteri under the seat goes to sleep if there is no vibration and wakes up when shaken bur the CR battery inside the switch is on 24/7 just like a watch or Airtag and should last at least a year including in your temperature environment.
Don't know what but sometimes serious wrong maybe shortcut in the switch take it apart for inspection and cleaning or try another one.

If the cold was the problem, the pod battery controlling the transmission would be affected by the same problem ?

Surely the switch only sends a BT message when you operate it, a watch is always functional and an air tag is constantly broadcasting BT to find a nearby device. 🤷‍♂️

This might be a good idea. I'll try cleaning the inside with contact cleaner.

There is one other thing to consider. The brand of cr2032 battery. Most of the major brands are ok.…but Duracell coin type has a very thin film which may interfere with positive battery contact.

I use Duracell but I give them a very light sanding with 600grit emery cloth before I install them.

Panasonic or other brands may not use this thin protective coating.

Because of the thin film, which coats the entire battery, power contact may not be very good, or sometimes intermittent. Its happened to me before on the AXS dropper controller.

A pod constantly sending blutooth will deplete quicker. The sleep mode of an AXS mech or a AXS seatpost has no impact on the POD, that functionality, whether pre set or programmable merely protects the battery in the mech/seat post. The POD emits a blutooth signal when the POD button is pressed. Given all of that , the most likely cause of a cr2032 going flat in a short time is therefore most likely due to a short circuit in the POD caused by water ingress, or condensation inside.

indeed, this is what seems to me the most logical and the most probable.

I had the same problem with axs remote for t type it did not last a day.

and how did you solve the problem ?I couldn't in the I send it to the sram distributor and because they did not have the same model they send me the ultimate which has rubber buttons and changed me extra 80 euro if I remember correctly.

I purchased a ‘sheet’ of CR2032 batteries as I get through quite a few for various devices I use.

In short, they were rubbish, didn’t last very long in anything I put them in.

Not saying it was the problem with this AXS pod, but not all 2032s are the same, “buy cheap buy twice” and all that.

Mine were reputable brands varta Panasonic it was malfunctioning for sure that's why sram changed it

Hi.

First post. ( no pun intended 😂 )

I have also seen issues with Batteries having the ‘ baby coating ‘ on, so the taste bitter if put in mouth. Don’t know what the chemical re-@ction is, but it can and has caused problems with other electronic devices.

Sure i have read elsewhere to about the sram issue.

worth a try…

Does that mean the batteries should be sucked in the mouth before use? 😉

Just been ‘scooting the web’ , def known issue With devices.. Funny enough a know issue with Apple Airtags…. Not working when battery replaced with coating.. so maybe do some further investigation.. depends what/ were you read - coating is/ isn’t removable…

IIRC there's a post somewhere else by @Stihldog about removing CR2032 coatings.

Edit: SRAM AXS not responding

When replacing the 2032 coin type battery, on my first AXS controller, is when I noticed the power issue. The AirTag and some other devices had a similar problem.

I had purchased a sheet of 12 Duracell 2032 coin type batteries as spares. I now keep a 600 grit, business card size piece of energy cloth with the sheet of batteries. A light rub on all sides of the battery seems to be enough.

The contact points of the battery holder doesn’t seem to be good enough to make a positive contact. Energizer or Panasonic types don’t seem to have this issue. (lack of coating?)

My fear of putting one of those batteries in my mouth first would be; A)-I might swallow it. B)-it could change my taste of chocolate. I’m not willing to risk any loss of the taste of chocolate.…period-full-stop. 🙅🏻‍♂️🤤💁🏻‍♂️

I have had the same issue as above, bike in cold garage during 3 degrees centigrade Down to - 3

I had the same issue as jackware, as my bike is subjected to between 3C down to - 3C. This I think was battery manufacturers type. Original battery was Duracell and lasted 18 months. Replaced with cheaper batteries that lasted a month or so. When I measured the voltage it had dropped to half it's original measurement. Similar to car batteries, if voltage drops by 1 to 2 volts for most batteries operating modern electronics, the systems fail to continue operating.

I'll give you some news.

I bought a stock of Energiser batteries. Before installing the battery, I put a little contact cleaner on the battery location.

I've had enough time to tell you if this solves the problem, but according to the SRAM application, the battery is still usable for more than 6 months.

To be continued....
