Orbea x Avinox Rumours

We should put governors on meat powered bikes too, they can reach crazy speeds and need to be reigned in.
We sort of already have that. The European e bike limit was set at the sort of speed people ride at. I don’t know what your fitness level is like but I’ve a 300w ftp and I’d struggle to keep at 20mph on the flat for any real length of time.

you would, but Helsinki has shown you can achieve zero road deaths without doing that with sensible policies and infrastructure while still having decent mobility.

Imagine all injuries you could avoid if everything was limited to 5 mph though. Why isn’t that sensible policy?

why are you asking people on an emtb forum - not the people who make the law?
If you feel strongly about a blanket 5mph limit in your state go petition your governer
of course you obviously don't believe in it and you appear to be trolling?

If you’re mountain biking in a private bike park or on completely private land fill your boots. But most Mtb in Europe is on public land where people have a right to walk as well and trails are effectively all bi-directional and shared use. There’s a logic and justification for limits here in my view.

As far as safety on the roads goes i never stop finding it bizarre how much investigation/ regulation/training goes on to address and prevent deaths and injuries in workplaces, trains or airplanes. How often changes are made as a result and how little of the same approach is applied to private car use on the roads.

I was told by an Orbea dealer owner that I text with that (in reference to the new Avinox Wild) 'Orbea will almost certainly lock down the power to 750w...'. He heard something for certain.
Have to say I took out my Bosch Wild yesterday for the first time with the 120nm update as I'm 8 days out of knee surgery, and that's so insanely powerful. It'll go up very steep grades, in pretty much whatever gear you find yourself in, with literally only one leg able to pedal.
I recognize the world is a lot larger than a little canyon trail behind my house, but I also know what bikes are supposed to be capable of, and this is really stretching the limit in my opinion. It also ate up quite a bit of battery very quickly and it could not have been good for my drivetrain.
From a skills standpoint I also find it a bit boring that you don't have to pay attention to what gear you're in. I matched Alex the bike testers recommended Bosch settings from his YouTube channel. I'm definitely going to turn it down and just try to keep a state of mind that it always needs to be at a lower power level. I might even remove my handlebar actuated remote just to remove the temptation.
I've ridden in other states where you just have wide open dirt roads to climb and I could see more power even being better for that specific use case. But I don't think you can have that additional power just on the road climb without also having the more power on the places we are not supposed to have it. And really is it such a problem having to take a little longer to climb? Not everything has to be rushed to the most extreme amount.

I don’t consider it trolling. There seem to be a lot of people out there who really are that thick or sociopathic. They might genuinely have never thought about it or seen what’s possible in civilized cities. The internet is full of Americans visiting Europe for the first time and having their minds blown by decent public transport and walkable cities.

As per the previous request in this thread, please keep on-topic "Orbea with an Avinox" for those of you who seem somewhat unsure still.

Further violations will result in a permanent thread ban and a short term forum ban depending on the post.

Feel free to create a new thread to chat about whatever random subject you want to chat about.

Thanks.

Please listen to this man. I'm tired of regulations, I just want photos, videos, and my fucking Orbea Wild Avinox.

Also a bit OT: I was told that a new Shimano is incoming as well when I asked about the Rise possibly getting the TQ60 soon.
That's what I have heard too. Next Rise, will carry the new Shimano motor (probably by the end of the year).

And regarding to the main thread....

Today I have had the privilege to see the new Wild in life.... What a f***ing beauty of an E-bike!!!

It was full kashima (38 & X2, non electronic susp) with the RS shifter for the post. I lift it by my hands and can say that at least, weights a couple or more kilos less than my actual 2023 M20 (24'4kg), although I don't know if it had the 600Wh or 800Wh battery inside.
Edit: will not say colour nor size to keep it safe.

OMG I'm jealous! Does it look as much like the Rallon as the leaked pictures indicate?

so it has the RS shifter on the left and the Avinox on the right ? or does it have two avinox shifters and an extra orbea one ?
I read it as it having a RS pod on the left for the dropper. This shouldn’t have any impact on Avinox controllers or the shifter controller on the right.

You don’t necessarily need both Avinox controllers but it is nice to have. One adjusts the maps quickly (needed one imo). The other toggles the screen, but it also acts as a record button if you have the dji action cams. So I enjoy having both because the record button comes in clutch, but you can also just swipe the screen and click on there too. You can actually make the other do multiple different things other than just record too.

Interesting they went shimano vs sram axs with the Avinox. The shimano doesn’t cord connect to Avinox right?

Having smoothshift, not having to charge battery in derailleur, and the other features that save the drivechain like decreasing torque a second during a shift makes a big difference. I love the smoothshift feature that makes the shifts while going dh coasting and the bike will be ready in that gear as soon as you pedal again.

The Bosch Wild uses Shimano so I'm not surprised. I assume there's an agreement between Orbea and Shimano to spec their product by default, if not only.

M-Team will have a GX AXS Transmission
I saw the M-Team. It has the GX AXS transmission, Fox 38 and X2 Factory, and Orbea wireless dropper (which is as fast as the Fox Neo). Maven silver brakes.
The rep also mentioned they are working on the battery extender.
I ordered the purple M-Team. 😊
I tested to make sure the charging port door is not obstructing the crank.
