Kenevo Gen1 Official 2018/2019 Kenevo thread

...and if there is "loads of travel to spare", it may mean that the spring is too heavy. There is nothing wrong if a shock bottoms out and it's just a good thing, if full travel is being used during normal rides, but if the shock bottoms out harshly and does it often, then adjustments should be done (higher spring rate and/or more damping). However, if the suspension feels good: plush enough, supportive enough, rides high enough etc. keep calm and carry on riding.
Cheers villho, that makes total sense.
Thanks for clearing that up. Been bugging me for a while now ?
As for the spring rate, it feels ok but I’m a little concerned I’m over 2 stone on spring rate recommendation.
B.B will be too low!
Cheers again

Hi,
Seems that several people have spare batteries, how much does a spare battery for Kenevo/Levo cost?
£715 ? and the bad news is there are none available at the moment in the U.K. I have tried Europe as well and no luck there either ☹️

I think spesh got some in yesterday

Hi again, I’ve decided to buy the updated spring for the ohlins.
Checking the correct ohlins chart, that 457 spring is set for a 11 stone rider! Unfortunately the last time I jumped on the scales and seen that weight, I was probably 13 years old!
With the sag set to 30% , spring is wound right in making B.B higher than normal.
With the 525 spring, that’s bang on for my weight at 13 stone 8 giving a few kg for riding kit.
Should be able to get desired sag with just a turn or two which it states on ohlins webpage.
I won’t tell the wife I’ve spent more money on the bike, as she keeps mentioning it worth more than our family car!
The family car will never give me this much fun ?

After finishing his first ride on his new Kenevo, my mate said ‘this is more fun than my elise’. Its a good comeback to all my mates who say ‘you could have bought a car for that’. I’m actually kinda pleased that I was 30 before I owned a car worth more than my bike!

All stripped down. Ready for new shock

My sincerest and deepest apologies that you were offended by my use of profanity. I don’t like the Bosch system. You’re not going to convince me otherwise. You keep forcing the issue. I have spent plenty of time riding it. I don’t like it. Plenty of my customers love it. I have sold a dozens of bikes with it. It doesn’t suit my personal riding style, I don’t like it. It’s just my preference. I have nothing against Bosch. I go to all of their training seminars and tech courses, since their US headquarters is 10 minutes away. I have nothing against Bosch. They know how I feel about their drive systems. They are brilliant. I really like my bosch spark plugs in my Land Cruiser and my Bosch dishwasher is phenomenal.

I just ordered a new bike with Shimano Steps on it. I’ll spend a significant amount of time riding it before I make a judgment on it. Just like I do with any Ebike we decide to sell in our shop
Move on and troll someone else.
I have a moustache samedi with the bosch performance , can't fault it

Evening all, just a quick update after fitting the new uprated coil spring.
I can safely say it’s transformed the handling in every sense but seeming I was nearly 3 stone over recommended weight ? I can see why.
First off, my 457lbs coil would achieve 28% sag when spring wound right up.
Can now achieve 28% sag within 2 turns ?
Feels way more responsive.
Bike feels even more planted when hitting jumps and dh sections.
Never thought it would make this much difference to the way it rode and handled.
Well worth the £20 I told the wife i paid for it ?

Hi Villho, on the 457 lbs spring, it was wound pretty much to the end of adjustment to achieve that sag.
On the 525 lbs spring, I wound the the adjuster down so I had slight tension on spring and then two complete turns achieving 28% sag.
That 457 lbs spring is designed for 11stone 2 rider.
Pretty much 3 stone over recommended weight.
525 lbs spring is made for bang on my weight.
Now I’ve changed the spring for my weight, I’d definitely recommend getting correct spring for weight of rider.
?

Glad you got it sorted out.
Did not realise you had the preload wound in past the 1 to 2 turns I suggested in post 71. I thought when you said you fully wound it in you meant 1 to 2 turns. No wonder the new spring has transformed the way your bike feels and rides.

Glad it is all sorted for you now :)

I imagine you could sell your old spring to get it closer to costing you £20

No wonder the bike felt horrible earlier, if the preload adjuster was wound all the way. Ideal situation is to have it so that there’s basically no preload (in practice there needs to be 0,5-1 turns to lock the spring).
- If there is not enough sag with ”zero” preload -> a lighter spring is needed.
- And then again, if 1-2 turns of preload still gives too much sag -> a heavier spring is needed.

Hey. Im new to the community. I've just bought a Kenevo in XL size. But i feel like the stock spring in the öhlins shock is quite soft for my use. I ride alot of downhill and like to smash it hard.
My riding weight is ~105kg. Have you guys seen any spring chart for the kenevo?

And what springs is it. 2.25" or 2.5"?

Hi Davajn, so there is a 100 kg spring or a 108 kg spring.
I’d suggest the 108 spring, with your full riding kit you’ll be around that weight.
The 108 spring is the 605 lbs.
Will make a massive difference on the way the bike rides. Hope this helps.

Sorry, I may be off-topic, but can you sit comfortably on the Kenevo's saddle, in any intermediate position, other than the most extended position where the saddle is level/horizontal?

You cant sit on it in abnormal position once it starts its backward tipping, which is about 2/3rds of the way down.

Thanks R120!
You answered my question.
I wouldn't like that dropper post - so I think that rules out the Kenevo for me (leaning back towards the Levo).

I spoke to a specialist who supplied the ohlins springs.
I had the 457 lbs spring on my medium Kenevo and the sag was well off.
They suggested the 525 lbs spring which stated on the chart.
Fitted 525 lbs spring and could get correct sag within 2 complete turns of adjuster on coil which it’s stated on ohlins sit.
Yes this chart is for a enduro but the spring rate will be the same for the rider as long as the ohlins has the 2.5 “ stroke.
Double checked with supplier before ordering.
My Kenevo now sits perfectly. ?

Also, the spring on my bike had the same part number as the 457lbs on the enduro chart so they had to be the same spring.

That‘s very strange as the spring I have on my bike has 18074 number, which corresponds to the chart that is also published by Specialized on their site (link, which I pasted in my previous post).

The hub size is different as well, so I don‘t know what the impact could be.

the ttx is also used on the enduro and the spring rate would be the same.
Obviously the weight of the bike is different but the lbs of the spring will be the same.
I believe the spring rate goes up in 23 lbs increments.
As I said I previous posts.
Spring had to be wound right in to a achieve correct sag which in turn messed up B.B hight.
Now with the 525 spring which is perfect for my weight, 87kg
Can achieve 28% sag in just under 2 complete turns.
With the 457 lbs spring, was running about 38% sag.
Too soft!
Let me know how you get on?

So, I just ordered and will see how that goes. Some people in another forumm wrote, that the spring of the enduro could hit the body of the shock etc. did you had any issues like that?
