Me and a bunch of riding friends I’ve been experiencing problems with our o chains.
Most commonly the four small Torx 20 bolts that hold the thing together.

I had the Ochain E on an Orbea Wild for 6 months and had no issues.

I picked up a Bullit 4 and had to buy an O chain S, since the old Ochain made for the Bosch gen 4 52mm chain line was not compatible with the gen 5 55mm chain line.

With almost 1000 miles on the Ochain S, two of the Torx 20 bolt heads snapped off while riding and the other two were really loose.

Ochain was responsive to my problem and sent me a repair kit.

But I’m wondering if the device was really made to stand up to the abuse of peddling full power e-bikes up hill or was it made for mainly downhill?

The design has a ton of small parts inside, and it’s pretty light.
Planning to start looking at the new DT Swiss hub for my next chain tension device.

Anyone else have issues with theirs?

I recently put an ochain s on my emtb with SX motor. No problems after a few hundred miles but I'm going to check those bolts!

How has the Ochain impacted the climbing aspect on your Wild? Did you notice and improvement when descending?

I have a 2026 Wild that I primarily use for long days in the saddle focused on climbing trails.

Debating if the gain I get on the dh side would negate any potential negative impacts on the climbing side.

I would not purchase for climbing performace, it doesn’t add anything to the experience of long days climbing.
That said it doesn’t take away either, it just helps with downhill.
Giving you a muted feeling at the pedals, which is nice for riding flats.

I'm a big fan of what they do for descending, but I've broken them on my acoustic bikes.
Staying away from them until they come out with a beefier e-specific unit.

I've had mine for a long time on my Gen 5. No problems.
I did a full rebuild the other day. Probably didn't even need it to be fair, the rubber stops were still pretty mint.

I'd happily recommend them. Loctite those faceplate bolts! I would say bolt check them, but I never did 😬 but I did check it over and tighten out of the box.
