Other New Trek Fuel+ TQ 120nm Dual battery

So if new bikes are showing up in dealer ordering systems, at what point might they officially be announced? I'm wondering the typical lead time between dealer engagement and public announcement?

BTW, I also saw a comment of a Facebook post on a Trek TQ group claiming the HPR60 will get a software update to enable 85nm. Now that would be an interesting turn if true. 85nm and perhaps a power bump (mine will regularly exceed 400w already) for the "light weight" motors and then have the heavier weight 120X for the full power bikes....?

It would be the perfect motor system at that power level. Just wow! Good thing it has the 580wh battery. Now I'm even more excited I picked up this unit for my gf. It's literally going to a be a 41-42# full power e-bike, if this is true. At her weight, the battery capacity works, but I also bet the RE will be compatible.

A software update is definitely something I’ve thought could happen with the HPR60 for a while now. However, 85 Nm seems like a big jump and would likely require the motor, battery, and drivetrain to handle significantly higher loads.

The Bosch SX is actually a good example. After the 2025 update, the motor felt much stronger and more capable, even though the official figures only increased by 5 Nm along with some firmware improvements. It completely changed how the motor performed on the trail.

Now that TQ has thousands of HPR60 motors out in the wild and probably has a very good understanding of their long-term reliability, they should know how much performance margin the hardware actually has.

That said, I also wonder whether such an upgrade makes sense from a marketing perspective. The motor is called the HPR60, so if they were to increase it to 70 or even 75 Nm, the name itself would no longer really match the product.

For me, around 450 W peak and 70-75 Nm would be the sweet spot. I honestly don’t need more than that.

That said, we’ve been hearing rumors about an OTA performance update for quite a while now, and nothing has happened yet. So at this point, I’m not really sure what to expect from TQ.

I think they might keep the 60nm torque, but increase the peak power to 400w, and maybe allow a higher assist percentage, maybe 300% assist.

My thoughts is that any update will probably come around the time the new motor is released. Most likely as "consolation" for recent buyers of the HPR60.

A little increase for the TQ50 would be fine …say +10 or 15nm.

It’s my understanding that the TQ 120nm has been used in cargo bikes for a few years now. (Maybe I’m the last to realize this 🤷🏼‍♂️).

Side note; Tried to upgrade the display computer on the Fuel EXE 8 yesterday. No luck. Get a connection warning instead… Back to the local Bike Shop.

I emailed them the other day about that and the person who replied said there were no current plans to support it. I've no idea how senior or in the know they were.

Some new Trek Fuel colours got posted on some Facebook stories, and i can't get onto the Trek website, so hopefully that means updates are happening?

Shame. Like has been suggested earlier with no public info I’m more inclined to get a new bike to ride now but if I knew what was coming I could be persuaded to wait.
Find a Trek dealer and they'll show you the exact options you can choose from.

The exact details are bound to leak very soon.

Surprised they havent already tbh. Heading to the EU this week so will go see what info I can get from the local bike shops there.

Point still stands. Even though I can’t get an Avinox bike right now at least I know about it. If it wasn’t for this post I wouldn’t have a clue trek was bringing a rival bike in 2027. Not like I go into the dealer and ask about what’s coming every week.

I’m just talking from a marketing point of view. Put it out there even if you can’t sell it so people think twice about Avinox

I agree with you, but we have to remember that like every other brand that doesn’t have Avinox-equipped bikes selling out, they have a ton of unsold inventory (hence the price cuts across the range of current offerings), and teasing what is coming next will make selling the unsold inventory that much harder without discounting even further, which will only further weaken their financial position. They’ve put themselves in catch 22 situation unfortunately.

Yea very true. Maybe waiting to hit that next year new model upgrade cycle for everyone that just bought avinox bikes will work a treat.

If they want to clear out existing stock before releasing the rumored new engine, now is a good time for a software update; it would help sway many undecided buyers. 65/70nm , 450W/500w and x4 assisntance might be enough to provide the necessary incentive.

I’ve cancelled my amflow pr pro order and will hold onto my gen 3 levo until these are released Jan 27th
Modular battery system 320/600 can be run with either or both
700% assistance
120nm
Can take a 170mm fork
Rides as quiet as current tq
Downtube looks slightly bigger than current but no where near the girth of current 800w battery’s
Motor area looks a bit bigger obviously

Any ballpark weight figures?
