what the heck, in which country is your lbs and how is he even able to make an order?!
U.S. I think the dealers get to put in big orders before release so they have enough stock when they are officially released. Again...I know nothing about the actual specs, not even the cost but he knew I was going to buy one for her and he sent a few "older specialized bikes" for approximate color options and she picked her top 2 so getting one close to one of the colors in her size S2. Only thing I know for sure is that it's lighter and he said 8 ish lbs approximately but also slightly smaller battery.

My bet is on two variants, one shorter travel, one longer. Slightly lighter, maybe a few KG.

I think everything else will be the same, full fat e-bikes are where the market is at, SL range was just too niche.

Full fat no, full power yes.

There’s clearly more than a few here who already know, but are gate-keeping. For everyone else I will put you out of your misery. First is a short travel full power e-bike. 120mm travel hitting a totally new market for e-MTB. Second is the Levo Evo as suggested. 180 mm long travel, burly, gravity focussed bike. Get excited !!!

What about the light Levo? So three new models in total?

Nothing exciting honestly ... saying there is a market for 120mm is dumb if it is a mtb, unless you do commuting, there is not a lot of people that would by a specialized pricey bike for such activity, totally unworthy.

As for long travel bike ... unless they ditch Brose there is still nothing interesting in this new gen to jump on, considering the price, versus countless other model/brand.

I completely disagree… there's a market for bikes that are less like swimsuits, with 130/140/150mm travel, lighter tires, and less aggressive suspension.

Just look at the success of Chinese bikes with builds and geometries that are closer to that direction than what a Levo 4 currently offers.

As for 180mm Gravity bikes, they have their loyal following, and the current Gen4 formula isn't enough for those customers either.

You did not read carefully ... we were talking about 120m travel here. No one said anything about 130-150 which are completely different categories.

Let's also be fair again, roaming in forest, discovering zone etc is already covered by some little bike out there where they do not really need much travel and I persist, you do not need an emtb to do that. Some hardtail, commuting gravel ebike are already there.

That said personal opinion this is where also fat bike shines with a motor. Comfortable, huge traction etc. And this market is already filled, there is little room for big brand as these people do not care and will never buy a 10k ebike for that.

People tends to forget that Chinese bike, even if nearly everything comes from over there, prices are very low which is also why they are trendy. Bafang exists now for ages and believe it or not, tons of retired people are on them: affordable from motor, frames, parts... I do not see an expensive Brand like specialized going to target these customers when everyone is counting money at the moment, could be wrong so let's see.

For sure. The levo 4's geo is laughable for serious gravity use everywhere besides maybe arizona. The big S is certainly falling off a cliff, after their amazing foresight with bikes like the enduro and kenevo sl. They went from ahead, to way behind in a few short years. I figured they were going to pull a stack of innovations out of their back pocket here at some point, but they continue to underwhelm. They have some personnel changes in the design department or something ?

Levo R release next week. 140/130. Same motor and battery as current Levo. New Frame. Limited release for ultra light with 600wh

Levo EVO - later release in April or May. Same frame as current Levo. Changes to linkage and suspension for more travel. Bike will be released with a new release suspension. A kit will also be available to convert current Levo into a Levo EVO. Essentially like cascade link long travel kit, but less costly.

Will the Levo R have different builds or just a $15-19k Founder Edition/Limited?

Different builds as well. I just called the shop where I bought my Gen 4 Levo last year and asked if i could “pre order the specialized bike releasing next week” and shop said “you mean the Levo R” and started telling me all about it lol

So if its the same battery as current Levo, will it have the FAT downtube??

Going off memory from the phone call here. I was more dialed in on the Evo, so I kinda breezed through the R info. We’ll know for sure in a few days i guess . Take it with a grain of salt, but it should be close.

I do remember them saying there will be a limited production run of an ultralight version with 600wh

A couple months ago, a dealer told me Specialized is coming out with a Levo Evo so since then I’ve been checking this forum periodically looking for news…

I like my Gen 4 a lot and want to build another one to equip with a dual crown and cascade long travel. I can wait a little more and see if i can just get the Evo frameset

Who is the 140/130 for? I have 60 emtb riders in my group and I can’t think of any of my friends getting a shorter travel. Is 140/130 for the elderlies? Maybe someone in their 70’s? But even those riders why would they go down from a traditional 160/150?

I think 140/130 is fake news.

The marathon type riders.....

Big battery... efficient 29er long distance muncher.

Over here 3 to 9 day MTB stage races are a big thing, and you allowed one battery swap during a stage... this will be perfect for that. And to be honest as much as I love my Levo's..... Most people are over biked.

- Personal note (I was looking at downgrading my 38 grip 2 to a new 36 grip 2x) and I thought I could never ride a 36 on my bike..... then I looked at how people like Jeff kendal-weed ride the 36's and some other really talented folks and I doubt I would ever put that much stress on the fork, even on my Ebike. , there is how I think I ride vs how I actually ride .....

So I think there will be a big market for this bike. especially if they can bring the weight in at under 22kg

I currently have my Gen2 Expert at 22kg with a 700 battery that im using for stage races , and my gen3 for everything else.

And when they release a decent colour for the s-works frame , ill build that up ... and it might just be the Levo-R
But it doesn't come with a big battery

Yes it does ....
saw the spec sheet
I'm so confused at this point. How many bikes are coming? 2 or 3?

I thiought we were getting a long travel Levo and a lighter Levo with a 600wh battery. Is this shorter travel Levo a third bike?

People actually race marathon on an e bike? Isn’t it fitness based? Ride analogue man lol.

If this bike is true specialized should sell it between 15-20k and try to make their R&D investment back that way. This is not a mass market product.

So the "light" Levo ain't really light?

I think Specialized have lost the plot altogether.
It's easy.

There's the Levo SL. (Strip for Lightness). This is the Lightest.

There's the Levo KSL. We don't have Kenevo's anymore so you can't have a light Kenevo so the K now stands for "Kool" spelt with a K for extra Coolness. This falls into the new LL category (Less Light).

The New Levo Gen4 SL (Specious ** Light). Dropping into the SLL category (Sort of Less Lardy).

The existing Levo Gen4 "LSL" (Looks Sort of Lardy).

The New Levo Gen 4 SLK (Screw Light Kompletely), All C's are now K's due to the Marketing department.

My lbs, a big Specialized dealer, said he'll have a demo fleet of the new Spesh Levo R by the end of February. I have a Gen 4 Comp (the pink, er, "champagne" color), but I have it currently as my 3rd favorite (out of 3) emtb. First is the Amflow PL Carbon followed by 1a Orbea Wild (Gen 5 Bosch).
My Spesh dealer sa8d the new Levo R will be, essentially, the same specs as the Gen 4 Levo but 8-10 lbs lighter. I am interested as the weight of my Levo makes it feel... ponderosa? Especially compared to the Amflow & the Wild, which is also around 47-48 lbs. Even though it's only a 6-7 lb weight difference, it feels vastly heavier.
I know what you mean these Gen4 s ride like a very heavy bike.

Of course it's for people in their 70's, nobody else rides e-bikes, no?

Saw a comment on reddit suggesting an S3 Levo R in comp build spec weighs 21.4kg

If this bike is 130/140mm as suggested I assume they have put a Fox 36SL upfront (140mm max travel) and a Stumpy Genie (no reservoir) out back.

After this comprehensive review, I feel like I keep the Kenovo SL. The 19 kg weight still interests me.
And still have leg power.
