New Santa Cruz model

Agreed, and I wouldn't be surprised if Cascade Components develops a link to further increase progression and also increase travel like they have for many other bikes.
Exactly!
Further irony that the vala is the bike they developed after pushing vpp as "the" system. With the vala, they must have the perfect engineer-designers now/Esarc

Has anyone heard anything further? I reached out to Stif in the UK to ask if there was any news but they didn't give much away at all - just said hopefully this year.

Seems a lot of manufacturers are releasing bikes with 160/150 travel but there's still a lot of demand for 170/170 - at the moment the only options I can see for longer travel are the Orbea Wild (but no way would I buy a bike with headset cable routing) and the crestline (limited production numbers and harder to get outside of the USA).

Yes I agree!!
I'm having the same problem here in Australia. I was so close to getting the crestline but without support network I held off. Defo want more travel. There are rumours about Unno and Forbidden with new bikes which might help us but I'm finding it hard to wait!

I'm hearing rumors of March and will coincide with the release of SRAM T-Type cable driven derailleurs. At least that is how I read between the lines when I picked up my VALA.

SRAM T-Type cable driven derailleurs.......Pure Rumor

If they make one I'll buy it for you 🤣
I won't forget and I have witnesses. I know for a fact unless you find an in stock Vala R or S you won't be able to order till mid March because they will be coming with SRAM T-Type cable driven which hasn't been released yet.

Prepare your small bills, there are already pictures of it in the wild!
Yeah I've seen this..... prototypes very rarely come to production (if that is what it is) and are just R&D experiments.

Hope they do though and hope the price is low enough for everyone.

Personally I can't stand adjusting gears again and again due to cable tension.

It's going to be a pinion bike for me once there's more choice out there.

👍

I think you have wrong equipement if you have to worrie about adjusting cable tension on your sifter…or you ride 20000km a year? At least Shimano deore, SLX, Linkglide, XT or Sram GX eagle don`t need it, maybe little after break in, but that`s all.

All mechanical group sets are effected by cable stretch and lost indexing.
I can only talk about my experience with Shimano 12 speed - whether indexing is or is not lost depends upon the amount of cable stretch and in my experience new cables once bedded in don't stretch enough to loose indexing.

Looks like Santa Cruz updated their website, maybe something new coming soon.......

looks like the prices have gone up on the uk website. vala s spec now £8400, stif cycles are £7600 for s spec or were they always £8400 on the s/c website?

Slash+ is 170/170 although the motor may preclude it from your comparison.

Kenevo SL2 is also 170/170 and can be over-stroked.

Anyone heard any news? Was really hoping to have seen something by now

Bullit 4 will be revealed in early april.
Gloss Black, Matte Teal Sparkle
S kit replaced by 70-kit
R kit replaced by 90-Kit
170/170,gen5,600wh.bigger vala (or maybe the same frame with 65mm shock and diff linkage.).
Not exactly the same frame, looks pretty much the same but the lower shock tab at a slightly more forward location.
Stroke is 65mm.

That color sounds similar to the new color seen on Santa Cruz’s site.

I wonder what shock will come with the new Bullit?
