For the past year or so, I’ve been contemplating acquiring another bike for family tours with our kids’ trailer. I had realized that a Levo SL isn’t the most suitable option for towing. This month, while browsing through my favorite ‚OBS‘ websites, I stumbled upon a special offer that I couldn’t resist: a brand-new hardtail e-bike with a minor paint chip on the frame's upper tube for less than 1,350 €. Now, it’s mine!
„Hoheacht“ is a local bike brand that pays homage to the Eifel’s highest mountain. It features a Shimano STEPS 7000 motor and an in-tube battery with 504 Wh (the 630 Wh model could also be a potential upgrade in the future). The bike has a mullet setup, an SRAM Eagle SX drivetrain, and 120mm SR Suntour forks. The wheelbase is almost identical to my Levo, as is the head tube and seat tube angle.
My initial setup change was to install my Sqlab saddle on it, and I’m certain that there’s room for numerous minor and major improvements over time.
I didn’t fully charge the battery before my first rideout. It must have been roughly ⅔ charged, and I managed to cover about 50 km on it. So, it should be sufficient for most rides, I suppose. The motor has only 60 Nm of torque, but it distributes power evenly and feels powerful enough for the bike’s 24 kg weight. The cutoff at 25 km/h is barely noticeable, but without assistance, the bike does have noticeably more drag uphill compared to my Levo SL.
Overall, I’m thrilled with the addition of this new bike to our family!
