My Rise connected to my buddies Garmin mid ride?

I’m on my Rise with Garmin Fenix. Buddy is on his Decoy with Fenix also. Mid ride, I look at my watch to see how much battery I had left, and my watching was continuously searching for my bike. My buddy asked me if I was in boost mode, because he was in trail, and I was. We separated further and then my watch reconnected. We got close, connected to his again, weird…. Anyone else ever have this happen?

As I remember, you cannot set a passcode for wireless connection via the mobile application.
But if you use the Windows E-tube application and a cable, you will be able to set passcode, so others cannot connect.

Maybe you're LBS/ShimanoServiceCenter can help with this.

I don't have a Rise but I use my EP8 with my Fenix.

Anyway, on Steps EMTB App in the settings you lock the MAC address - otherwise the watch will connect to the strongest signal. I used to get problems when riding in a group, my Garmin would freak out as it didn't know what to connect to.

I've just looked at the Orbea RS Toolbox and was surprised to note that isn't part of the setup
