My Rail, Resting on Stuff

Just finished up an amazing vacation in the Sierras where I was able to get the Trek to some new heights! Did a 25 mile ride with 3,000' of elevation gain up to 9,700' where it ended at Minaret Vista. The jagged mountain range in the background was the inspiration for the mountains surrounding the wicked witch castle in the movie Wizard of Oz. The other picture is on the Mammoth Rock trail which is a rather rocky and technical downhill with a bit of exposure. I can't say the Trek was a nimble and plush as my Santa Cruz Hightower on this type of terrain, but capable none the less.

I've put about 250kms on it so far, and so far so good. My first ebike so nothing to compare it to but it's allowing me to pack more into short rides and really enjoying it so far.

Changed the tires as the local trails are starting to get sloppy with the recent wet weather.

Also put on some larger Magura discs as the bike was making an odd noise when pedalling fast that the lbs said was caused by the discs that came on it as standard . I was going to change them anyway as I am sore enough on brakes.

Other than that it's great, I would love to lift the restriction on it as it feels really held back at times but need to do more research.

I can fit a full bottle now in my Medium 2021 Rail 7. If your bottle cage mounting locations will allow it, you can move it down a bit. I had to use a washer and a slightly longer bolt to re-attach the top hole in the new position. Since the bottle touches at the top, I put a double layer of clear packing tape underneath to protect the paint. You have to change the tape periodically once it gets worn though.

Congrats on the new bike btw.
The gap on the stem/bar clamp seems fairly wide. I included two pics of my bar/stem clamps but those were for carbon one up bars.

On any clamp which mounts to the bar I try to close the top portion to keep any debris or water from becoming trapped in that area. Sometimes there is a small gap at the bottom of the clamp but that allows water or debris to escape/fall out.

It looks like your bar is alloy. Could the diameter of the clamp or bar be slightly wrong?
 
My 2022 Rail resting against a bush on one of my local trails with the Mont Ventoux in the distance (better known to our roadie cousins for its epic Tour de France stage climbs).

Has any one tried changing the routing of the cables. Here we have the rear brake on the left and the local shop swapped the brake levers over but didn't change the routing of the cable. It's not a big deal but you can see in this photo how the cable is bent to go into the left side of the frame where it would be better if it went in the other side.

I went to do this job today but the guide tubes for the routing of the cables are glued into place at the top.

Has anyone ever removed or swapped these over?
 
If we had snow I'd be out for sure. But today was no snow but -4C so I chickened out. Instead mucked around doing stuff in the garage.

Did this job today.

If just doing this on it own, you need to cut the brake cable near the lever to allow it to be pulled back as far as the motor.

Then unclip the guide tube from the clips running up behind the battery. In my case I couldn't/didn't want to force remove the cable as it's glued in where it exits the frame so I cut a small slice in the tube near the top and fed the brake cable out this and out the correct side.

It's funny as it doesn't make a difference at all to the ride of course but the bike just feels nicer with it done.

I also have a head light hard wired back to the motor though which caused more headache as I needed to reroute this now also, meaning dropping the motor but all buttoned up now again and happy out.
