My Aussie Cheeb

Any owners of the frame/bike find the frame size larger than usual?

Im about 183cm and always get frames in L size. I’m hearing this one is longer and larger than usual - looking for comments. Does it feel larger than expected?
I‘m 183 cm like You, and I have the „L“ 19.5 inch frame. The Reach is long at 485 mm, but with short 40mm stem the bike fits perfect.

Finally got the frame and charger (the last piece of the puzzle to dribble in), built it up over the last two days and went for a quick ride around the block before it got dark tonight. Looking forward to a proper ride to test everything.

Is there much saving now diying compared to a Volition option? Imho it would have to be $1K+ cheaper to make it worthwhile.

Btw I'm also in Canberra

If you have your own MTB that you can use parts from then it is dirt cheap to build. If your doing it with all new parts as I did then you can expect to pay around $7k+.

I now have decided to order the Volition, I certainly don't have a full carbon MTB in the wings that I can modify. Looking forward to connecting with some locals once delivered, hopefully before xmas.

Hey PB Ski - How did you find the Volition E10? I have just ordered one, hoping it arrives in time for Christmas. What was your experience?
Mate you had any update on schedule for your order? Trying to get an update myself...

I have been riding my one so much I love it, Damn if it is not hard on chains however. Every one that's had a go on it is blown away just how good a bike they are. Why would you have something else for this price

When did you order yours? How about the cassette is that holding up well?

its not kind on the ultralight cassette,, I have ripped a tooth out on a new 10s cassette, not even 10km. I have now change back to the steel cassette. the other issues is the freewheel hub. it needs to be in steel, the cassette is chewing onto the spline. Chains are another perishable item. I broke mine in less than 50km. Need to be careful when shifting under load. One index at a time.

I need to call them tomorrow. Week or so back I was told 20th Dec deliver and 1 week processing time. Hoping to get it on deck after Chrissy before new year if possible.

I worried about the hub. It’s is generic one. If i shred it, which i think will be the end result I’ll upgrade it to something decent.

Has anyone else gone tubeless ok on these supplied rims?

You have a number, only contact I have is email. I have been told it will most likely be first week of Jan for me; but I only recently ordered.

Awesome thread, great to see some other Aussie builds of the E10.

I am just about to put in an order... however the $440 shipping is a bit of a sting, wish I had the same work around as you @Wax!

Also not looking forward to GST either... there is no such thing as a cheap build!
Fangbikes has australian stock of frames....

What a fantastic bike, also second day and wrapped!!
Not sure what it would be like without the power upgrade, but the power delivery is so ample and smooth.

Finally got out for a shake down ride on mine and wow is it fun.

For anyone wondering mine is a very diy CHEEB V2 build. Mostly the best aliexpress can offer... brakes are def the first on the list to upgrade!

With the m600 I rarely need to move out of assist lvl 1! So much power.

Day 2, local trails. Very Happy!

Hey bro, I have the same bike. Question, when you lift the bike from the seat post or rear wheel is there play where the rear shock bolts to the upper frame? Mine has movement on the shaft. It makes a clunk noise. Bolts seem to be done up tight. I am waiting on a torque wrench to arrive before i go unbolting stuff to check.

Did you have any trouble with the dropper lever? My cable instantly pulled through when I depressed the lever. No amount of tightening the barrel bolt would stop it. Wondering if maybe they used wrong diameter cable, the lever is actually pretty shit, I am looking for an after market one To replace it.

Being that this is my first ebike I am wondering about this issue after having a few rides already. Anyone looking at getting a shift sensor? And if so, looking like you can only mount it near the cockpit and I’m guessing you would need to pull the motor out as the cable would need to go inline with the ‘ brake’ sensor cable, which isn’t present on this build?

If you change without stopping pedalling long enough that the motor stops completely, it slams the gears in pretty hard, i can even feel a slight sideways kick to the bike when changing under power. Probably not that much of an issue on the trails in assist 1?

Not seeing any damage to the cassette yet, but i imagine if you didnt have the derailleur setup precisely you’re going to see premature damage.

Anyway - good to get thoughts on a shift sensor. Chime in ya’ll ;)

Thoughts on the DPC-18 display used by Volition vs the DPC-240 in their spec.

Those that received the bike assuming they were getting a DPC240 but got a DPC18 - keen to hear your thoughts.
I really wanted the DPC240. Much more stealth, below the bar so less prone to breakage.
The big display is ‘nice’, easy to see, Color, but tbh i would still rather the smaller DPC240.

I have been talking to Rob from Volition about the display not being the one in their spec. Rob mentioned they actively changed to the DPC18 based on issues such as readability, cable “falling” out when riding. Anyone that has the DPC240 display care to talk about what their experience has been like?

Did you have the bike built or did you build it yourself?

I do notice the issue with the changing whilst no pedaling but known of the other issues. I wasn't tracking which display it came with...

Hi Roy, No play in the rear end. I had mine assembled at the shop. No problems with the dropper lever yet. Does look a bit weak and the cable fit is crap. Will be interested to see what you come up with.

Now just over 100kms. No probs with chains and sprockets but I am "mechanically sympathetic" after reading issues for others.

This thing gets me to places I would not previously considered. Pretty awesome.

I have the DPC 241 (Bluetooth) Display. Contra: Hard to read, the smaller details I cannot identify while riding, generally difficult depending on light. Visibility is not good at all. Plugs getting loose from time to time, causing Error 30, no problem if You are aware. Clamp doesn’t fit to 35mm stem.
Pro:
Stealth look and safe place. Good menue and all information You need on one screen. Charging port for phone.

What can you do with the Bluetooth? I had read about some Bafang Go app - is it worth it at all?? Volition can send me a DPC240 for $150, which is a bit shit because that was what was in the actual spec for the bike, but I think the 240 they would send would be out of their own inventory, but still It’s not a cheap bike to begin with.

After reading on Bafang for so long now it night pay to have a spare display if you want to keep the bike going in the event of a damaged or faulty display. So im considering getting the 240 - unless 241 Bluetooth is better/useful? And retiring the larger DPC18 to the spares box.
