Front or rear, width, casing, compound?

I cant stand them up front, but it's been so long, I cant remember why?

Love them as rear for mud. Though lately, I'm pushing up most of the punchy little climbs, after a failed attempt, and avoiding the big tech climbs all together, becuase its just too slimy even for a shorty.

Im in Kentucky, though my Dad grew up in Johnstown PA and I think the terrian we ride is similar.

2.5 shorty in rear and I’m climbing stuff you could not hike!!! Slime and muck , even tech rocks and roots. Best rear by far. Tried minion dhr 2. Stock bontrager, eddy current, se5 , and assegai. May go back to dhr2 in summer months.

You'd be surprised what I can hike. Lol.

I put one on the rear last week, but ride was cut short before it started really due to mates crank nearly falling off (with stripped threads) on his non e bike. So will try it proper on Wed, all being well....

Put one on the front yesterday, good grip once dug in, deadly on mud covered rocks.
Doubt ill try it on the rear, trails around me cut up badly and an e-shorty on the back would just dig trenches. Id rather ride somewhere else and not ruin the trails for when the ground isnt sodden.

I ride old motocross and dirtbike trails. I could install carbide studs and nobody would notice my enimic little dirtbike. Two worlds collide.

Shorty is great in this stuff.

Yeah. Despite having more mud than most to ride I don't like shortys either. But I really enjoy getting loose in a slide.
The closest thing to a mud tyre I ever use these days is a magic Mary 2.35 up front or a 2.4DHRII rear but you're more likely to see me going sideways on a DHF / SS combo.
Be dull if we were all the same tho, eh?

Today I tried riding with the assist off. I take back anything I've ever said about them not being too draggy! It was like peddling a motorcycle. No way could I peddle In this stuff without boost. But, I like boost so problem solved.
