Making a Bt001 battery work with an EP801 motor: Anyone been able to do this?

I have a canyon spectral on CF 8 : It has a ep801 motor. I need a new battery. Canyon sent me the BT001 Battery but it does not work with my motor. I am trying to send it back. But before I do, does anyone know any hacks, or does anyone want to trade for a BT003 or 04 battery?

I assume you are out of luck as the communication protocol between battery and motor was one of the changes with the EP801. This would mean that proprietary electronics in battery have changed.
