Mahle is a very well respected name in automotive and motorsports.
This is a Gen I Chevy, was in my Camaro in college, now on a stand as a 388 ci stroker, 6" rods and Mahle pistions.
The machine work is excellent. Mahle supplies Porsche with original and motorsport pistons.
I have a feeling the Mahle EMTB motor won't be the cheapest but will be very well engineered and built.

It’s not the first EMTB motor they’ve made of course, they did the Specialized SL1.1 and SL1.2 power units.

I’m keeping a keen eye on the recently announced ones, maybe the M20 would be a good candidate for a new SL bike?

Back in the day Maicos were the highest performing motocross bike by far, but required constant full maintenance of every component or they would fail in just a few rides, except for the Mahle piston, those lasted forever and did not rattle or seize. Woe to those who replaced the Malhe with a Wiseco or Tarabusi.

Do a search on Specialized Motor reliability , see how many specialized rider has problem with their motor after certain period of time, how many claim warranty and bla bla bla. Simple try answer ask specialized EBIKE rider , will they buy a second hand Specialized Ebike without any warranty on their motor?

I think your mainly high lighting the problems with the Brose mag s in the levo and kenevo.

The Mahle in the Sl bikes, whilst not faultless, is on par with most other motors.

Mahle has only made motors for the Specialized SL versions, they seem to be in a different bucket with regard to reliability versus the Brose ones fitted to the full power Levo’s.
