Anyone's old pads look like this on your 4 piston units? Small unworn bit where it does not contact disc.
There is a spacer there, but it's a different design and offsets the caliper vertically.View attachment 35006

I'd just file 1.5mm off each side of the adapter
What happens if you put that spacer on the other way around?Yeah I thought that but it is as the factory put it, which is why I asked other owners.

That probably explains the persistent zinging noise - outside edge of rotor touching side of unworn pad.
