Levo Gen 3 Magic Mary Radial on the back?

I've got them front and rear. They do "seem" different, I'm so used to Maxxis with high grip, I'm slowly testing the limits of traction, break-away. The feel and noise is noticeable, they roll slower, but it's an electric bike after all. I'm too lazy to measure pressures, relying on squeezing for a decade I can tell how much is enough, meaning that I haven't really noticed a need to increase pressure, relying on the built-in gauge on a $20 schwin floor pump. 21 lbs front 25 rear. I'm not a very good rider, so I tune tire and suspension for comfort over absolute traction. I bought the magic mary with dh casing and soft rubber, so far I'm happy. However the first day I tried rolling diagonally over wet roots, wet roots are STILL really slippery, yes I crashed.

Small update after ~400km riding the MM Radial combo front and rear.

Where: 70% natural trails and bike parks, 30% gravel roads.

Conditions: wet, dry, mud, loose over hard packed trails, hard packed trails.

My riding: I am an intermediate rider,no crazy stuff but I love technical descent.

Let's talk about feelings now...

The first few kms it seems that everything is off. Tyres are sensibly softer on the shoulders and you can really feel it. I normally ride 25-26 psi front/27-28 psi rear. I increased by 5 psi both front and rear as per recommendation from Schwalbe and still seemed to be way softer than the previously installed Specialized Butcher/eliminator combo.
However this feeling goes away as soon as you get a few kms...

How do they ride once you ger familiar. Well.. Let's startwith the front in ultra soft compound: it is an absolute blast! Very confidence insipiring, super smooth in transitioning into turning, incredibly grippy. I just love it! No matter wjat type of terrain I rode, the front was an excellent experience. I think this will be my tyre from now on.

The rear: the feelings are really the same as the front with a huge "but"... On rear I am using the soft compound, not the ultra soft.
And here is the "but": I think this is not a good tyre for ebikes and/or heavy bikes or riders. It is just too soft. The central pins are very grippy especially whenyou climb and they were excellent on roots and stones. But they are soft like butter. After only 400km they are already waaaay too consumed. I normally ride with 20 to 60% assistance, with the latter power % only in extreme scenarios... But still the pins are incredibly consumed.

To mention also the rolling resistance: quite high 🙂

Let me share a couple of pics of the consumption... First two are rear and the third is front. You can notice the rear pin have that "wave" 😁

The trail casing is garbage! I accidentally ordered a pair of tires in trail casing and decided to just try riding them. The sidewalls are so soft I folded the front tire in a section and was launched from my bike. Garbage!
The gravity casings are fantastic however.

My experience as well with the same setup. MM radial rear doesn’t hold up to e-punishment. And this is the soft compound, not ultrasoft. I replaced the rear with Albert soft and it‘s holding up better. I think MM doesn’t have the knob surface area needed to handle the power. Same with slowing down the heavy beast.

The soft comes in gravity. The ultra soft is trail but on the front I found it good enough 🙂

I've got Mary's front amd back, heavy casing, soft compound. Got them on aa 2023 Orbea Team Ltd and thought "okay they feel good", not much more. Rode a couple hundred miles, took out my 2020 Trek rail 9.8 with good Maxxis high grip heavy casings, and all of a sudden, realized just how good those radials are. It was very obvious, traction and comfort is much better on the radial.

Front 21 ish psi Rear 25 ish psi

Any comparison of the magic mary radial or Albert to the new specialized 2.3 butcher gravity tires that have come on the levo gen4? Was really a fan of the Michelin E wilds on my levo GEN 3 but the new GEN 4 levo comp that I just got is so superior with grip in the wet mud/slick roots with its new/improved butcher gravity T9 2.3 tires that I am going to stick with them in the future. Yes slower rolling but it's an e bike so I don't care. You're faster because you're not slipping out and having to put a foot down as often and climbing way steeper stuff without the rear wheel losing traction (maybe a firmware improvement also?). So overall you're faster anyway, with a heavier bike to boot. I'm just wondering if the Maxxis radial tires could be any better than these? And I'm talking about all sorts of conditions where I ride, jungle wet muddy trails with greasy rocks and roots, and also dry trails up the higher mountain areas as well as volcanic sand patches and loose gravel double tracks. Frankly it's kind of stunning how much better they are than the old butchers that came with my gen3.

Both my son and I ride MM radials F & R on our SC Bullits if that helps.
Front: Gravity casing , Ultra Soft
Rear: Gravity casing , Soft compound

The mud adventure made me a bit emotional when it went down (it was hundreds of meters uphill in cowshit infested mud) and I noticed to late that it went into my drivetrain but yeah: afterwards it seems funny. Magic mary in the back or a full shredda setup would have probably been better but the way the mary sounds in the front the Albert is probably better in dry conditions or on asphalt. Although the knobs seem to twist over on asphalt more compared to the super trail magic mary before I rode in the back.

The traction is probably even better in the dry or slightly less muddier circumstances with the Albert because of the casing. Feels really secure tho.

Sadly I seemed to have missed the window of opportunity to test the Albert in the front thought when it's dry and dusty.
 
I've ridden where they let cows roam free, it was shitty.

Those conditions are not in the Alberts wheelhouse, amazing you survived! :-) MM on the rear and Shredda Rear on the back would be the minimum setup for that mud fest.
 
In the downhill which was the same trail the mud had a bit dried out and the grip was a bit better I think and I had pretty good confidence/speed and not very many scary moments. So kinda good for this thread pattern combo.
