Has anyone had any durability issues with a Magic Mary 27.5 x 2.6 Snakeskin? Is it robust enough for a heavy rider on an EMTB? My current rear tire (Maxxis Minion DHR II Dual EXO WT TR 27.5 x 2.6) has split/torn just above the rim bead after less than 100km. The Maxxis weighs about 900g, the MM about 1000g. Any ideas why the MM 2.6 isn't done in a Super Gravity version. I'm also considering an Eddy Current or a Specialized Hillbilly. Has anyone had any experience with them, if so what are your thoughts in terms of performance and durability?
cheers

I have the 2.6 in the Ultrasoft DH (I believe the toughest version), running them on my hardtail which I use pretty aggressively. They are set up tubeless and running about 20psi, no punctures or issues in the last 2/3 months of running them round the Surrey Hills. I find they are quite draggy though, and not as fast rolling on slicker stuff as my previous Minions, but are also a super solid tyre in winter riding conditions. I come in at just under 14stone fully kitted up, but on the hardtail they are taking a lot more punishment than on an FS.

I also run 2.6 Hillybillys on my FS, which I really like, faster rolling than the MM which surprised me and awesome in the slop. Cant remember the name of the version I have, but again its whichever has the toughest casing, set up tubeless. They clear mud better than the MM too. In fact they might be my favourite tire to date, a lot of people run them on the front and a slicker tire on the rear, but I find that the grip/hook up they give on the rear on an EMTB to be awesome.

I have, MM, DHR2, hillbilly, Eddy Current, aggressor, assegai.
Hands down the eddy current destroys chunk and hero dirt like nothing i have ridden, no tread wander at all in hard G corners.
Just isn’t the best in mud. Hillbilly works better in mud but not even close anywhere else.
Not the fastest rolling tire but not a turd.
Prob the stiffest tire none folding out, there standing upright not mounted

But what I’m really liking about Eddy is i have just over 130 miles and some serous DH runs on chunk, DG, and hiro dirt and they still don’t look like they ever been used.
