I thought that! Mind you, he has ridden a bike once or twice, so will probably be OK.

He said he was going to customise it over the next cpl of days .
Maybe his mechanic will sort it for him . I don`t like cutting expensive steerer tubes . But I also have memories of incidents from BMX days ...

I will get a set of Ohlins most likely. I wold assume the steerer was left so long so that it can be used for any other purpose... no point chopping it if you know it's coming off!
