This is following a muddy ride (bike upside down, showing the drain vents still clean):

This is the mud-covered mud flap:

It shows it works well (here is the original post Vitus E-sommet VRS 2021 battery cover issue - EMTB Forums ).

Nothing like a clean arse to help keep the motor running 🤔

I can't see this prolonging any motor life, just keeping your bike's box clean.
I prefer to keep my bike looking like a pert teenager not a prolapsed bingo queen with tassles hanging everywhere.
To each their own tho.......💈

it stops the drain slots clogging up as shown here:
if you are in the mud enough it will clog up.

Try moto foam, it's used on dirt bike's for that very reason and doesn't look twatfull.
I had it in the crud buket on my 2018 e sommet.
Yo might wanna put some under the left side motor cover if you're worried, that fills up a treat.

well that's😬 harsh.

naarrr, got to let em have a go! The purists hate any extras on the bike, probably rides with no fenders too.
But I do agree: each to their own.
Not having a dig at all.
I've got the rockshox guard on my Zebs and am surprised how well it keeps the shite out of your eyes yet its size is unobtrusive.
I have found mudguards can gather a lot of shite and get twisted in a spill etc. so yeah, the less the better for me.
