Pretty bike, although downtube is chunkier than I would have imagined. I'm worried how heavy the alloy model will be. Gen 3 alloy had a svelte enough downtube.

So far nothing seems to be revolutionary about this bike. Bigger battery who would have thought? Will make the handling worse. Especially when its side loaded. Center of gravity and frame weight will most likely be higher than gen3.

45kmh is irrelevant for a mountainbike not to mention in Europe you'll have to get a license plate, mirrors and insurance if you want to ride that on public ground.

Also that speed just will get all bikes banned from recreational areas.

Apple find my is inferior to the Amflow gps based system as it notifies thieves on their phones that the bike has a built in tracking device.
Like 10 Years ago when I was I saw the Levo gen1 I was like this is pretty cool, but the industry has a long way to go. Fast forward to today, EMTBs they have come a long way using cutting edge technologies which have given us a whole new lease on how we ride. So when I see statements like "revolutionary", I hate to break the news but the "Revolution" has already happen and as such incremental is what you are going to get. There are current engineering limitations (materials / motors / batteries) that limit development in a cost constrained environment. Because of this Revolutions happen less often and Evolutions are the norm. This paradigm is reinforced right here in this thread, as the #1 complaint I see is "to expensive".

Out of curiosity, what would folks in these threads see as a Revolution?

Long term motor reliability is the revolution we need. 25% or 33% of owners needing one or more motor replacements in 2 years is crazy. 5 year warranties should be standard. Motors being seen a consumables needs to change.

standardized battery packs and chargers
standardized motor mounts
lower prices
lower weight but more range etc

- Motors reliability have been a huge issue in the industry. I believe you will see incremental improvements but I also believe that look at the environment we operate. We are not gentle with these bike /motors and that's the largest contributing factor to failure. I mean if you took your average SUV off road weekly I am 100% certain the reliability rating would plunge. I am not defending the industry I am just stating facts... Smaller / lighter / more powerful motors in extreme environments does not = reliability

-standardized battery packs and chargers - never happening unless all companies agree to some sorta of industry standards.. which by the way could slow advancements

- lower prices - Lighter / faster / cut edge are not terms associated with low cost

- weight - this is a tricky one as weight has a direct correlation with safety


I agree that all these are factors needing improvement and I believe that the industry as a whole is moving the needle on all of them. Hopefully this bike improves on the previous efforts of specialized.
 
Don't really know if I like the way the cables go into the frame - a big lump with a big hole?
Its an expansion plug, which to me says some of the lower models may have more than the 1 cable running thru that slot, or if you wanted to add (but who the hew would do that)

Actually go a step further see the fastener on the side so you can remove the whole plug for more room to work while routing

I like it, it`s similar to new Mondraker. I`d like to say I like the looks generally but since there`s no picture from possible ugly side loading battery side I say nothing 😀

Ya that's one of my biggest concerns, the side load needs to be / look clean
 
Looks great to me! I am pleased to see the horst link suspension retained along w/ the high low setting on the rear pivot. The low setting should allow use of the approved 180 mm fork without raising the BB height too much. Also like the cable ports suggesting internal cable routing option for non- Fox Neo seat post for simplicity!

It can be argued that standardizing the key components that make bikes different from each other (battery packs, chargers, and motor mounts) pretty much eliminates any revolutionary developments resulting in lower prices, weight and range.
