Levo Gen 4 - Alloy Launch Discussion Thread

Found a pic of the base spec in green. Shame that they've gone with that shock over the bomber air and the Z1 instead of the new Bomber Z (budget version of the Super Z).

Looks awful

I disagree. I think it looks like an eBike.
I think the only thing that lets it down are the very heavy welds.
I agree. The welds always look worse in photos. Specialized have never really nailed taking good photos of their bikes. Always look better in real life.

Hi,
does anyone know when aluminum version will finally be released? I have to choose either Cube one77 or Levo Alloy at the beginning of June

I think it should be announced today. Probably later on once US has woken up.

Do you reckon the spec of the comp alloy will be similar to the carbon comp?
Pretty sure it will be the same except for wired Eagle 90 instead of wireless S1000. Some might say that's actually an upgrade. Would be nice if it got a 38 rather than a 36 but I wouldn't count on it.

Either way it would be a definite no from me.

Those bikes will be very cheaply made and built to target a faded market.
Have you inspected the bike? I'm sure it will be made to the same standard as previous Specialized alloy bikes, which I would say is good quality. When I hear about manufactures with issues on their alloy frames Specialized is not at the top of the list. Sure the component spec could be better for the price but that's Specialized for ya.

The Levo is the most popular EMTB. What dont you like?

I dont like that Yamaha did me wrong and did not sent me the free battery promised on the Moro. I had the preference that someone other than Yamaha bought Brose. The Levo having a Brose is a negative.

I have had 2 EP8 motors die on me. So I don't feel Shimano is better. I hear Bosch is the most reliable.

I like Alloy(I just had a Pivot Shuttle Team XTR frame crack). Big WHr batteries and sram transmission... this Levo checks allot of boxes.

Maybe getting the air latter?

Someone posted this on the Levo FB group. Not sure if the Float X was fitted as standard or a change by the owner.

Well going by the figures that makes the comp alloy around £6000 in the uk. Not sure it’s worth that to be honest. Was hoping somewhere between 5500 and 5800

They’re on the uk store for 5999

Fox 36 though, specs are a bit all over the place. Says eagle 90 but cassette is old gx etc so who knows what it actually is

£5999,00
not for me , i think it has to be one of the ugliest levo's ever designed , with that side battery bloat fest call me superficial :), just got a trek 2025 rail 5 for £4100, much better value , and they got rid of the side load bloat battery :)

And don't forget 59 pounds with pedals!!

Have to say I’m struggling deciding between getting a gen 3 or gen 4 alloy. At the clearance prices for the gen 3 is the gen 4 really worth paying 40-50% more for?

no!
I just bought a gen3 Ally Comp. I wanted a trail bike ( already have enduro bikes), and the gen3 Levo Comp price is £600 less than a Levo Comp ally I bought in 2019....and this time has brakes, tyres, and suspension that are perfectly adequate for trail riding. No reason to pay the extra for a Gen3 Comp Carbon either since the frame material is the only difference apart from 800 grams weight. The gen 4 Comp Ally is £1550 more expensive...........is heavier and uses the new 3.1 motor which is not yet proven. Does the gen 3 need more power like the Gen 4?..........not in my experience. Gen 3 on offer is a no brainer!!

I have never felt like the gen3 needed more power. I think there's a real argument to be made for getting a bargain on a gen3, and save all that money for an upgrade in a couple years. Who knows what will be out by then? Maybe motor gearboxes will finally be ready to take over.

Thanks both. I put off picking up a gen 3 for a while telling myself that the gen 4 would be worth waiting for but now that's it's here I'm a little disappointed in it, especially for the money. The way things are going I think we can expect a gen 5 sooner rather than later so perhaps best to go with a gen 3 for now and see what's available in 2 years.
