I own a 2019 hardtail levo and thought of upgrading to the 2020comp, mainly due to the 700wh battery, but like you I was confronted with a massive price difference for the 2019.
I think i'm correct in saying that the 700wh battery will fit into the 2019 frame, so for £5500 you could have a carbon frame with both a 500wh battery that it comes with and buy a new 700wh battery for around a grand.

Have a word with your lbs. You should be able to get a bit of a discount on the 2020 models now too.
It was black Friday, but I got 20% off a 2020 expert which brought it close to the price I was originally going to pay for the comp, but gave me better parts.

sometimes you just have to ask and 10%+ comes off especially if the shop knows your back in for service etc

Levo comp 2020 £5500 or levo comp carbon 2019 £4395 in sale new need help ??‍♂️??‍♂️

I was in a similar situation, but I got the 2019 Carbon Expert down to £5500 and the 2020 Comp down to £4700 with QWR V12 pedals.
I went with the 2020 Comp, mainly because the Carbon really doesn't have much benefit weight wise on an EBike and the forks are better on the new Comp. Also the £800 difference gives me some money in the bank if I feel the need to upgrade at all.

Definitely push for a lower price, 15% off seems reasonably easy to get now, so the 2020 Comp comes in at £4675.

My 2020 Comp XL Taupe and Orange should be arriving at the LBS today :p

The Comp Carbon on average only weighs a half a pound less than the aluminum comp. In the US the 700wh battery is $1200. 2020 Comp aluminum is a much better value in my opinion and I sell them in my shop. I am currently building myself up a 2020 comp and I am going to sell my 2020 S-Works.

In the UK many of the lbs offer V12 finance usually with up to 24 months interest free. V12 make their money by charging the lbs a % of the bikes selling price......almost certainly 10% or more. So if you pay cash you should be able to get at least 10% discount.

I have the same dilemma.

2019 can be had for 4K as said. 2020 Comp approx 4800. So for the 700W battery and other upgraded parts/improvements for me, its 2020

for 4800 though you could get a 2019 comp carbon, and 2 x extra batteries at 400 each - 1500W power! try running that lot out!

worth a mention is the colours. They arent the same between 2019/2020 years
