Trying to decide

Moving up from a Giant 29er hard tail non-ebike.
I want something I can head up into the hills exploring but not necessarily do any 3m jumps on the way back down. I've had an mtb since the early 90s but at 71yo need a bit of help to get up those hills.
Looking at Merida e140 500 and Mondraker Dusk. I can buy both at same price.
Fixed battery is a negative as it will increase weight on vehicle bike rack with wife's ebike.
I'm 178cm (5.10) and 75kg (11.8)
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks for your responses.
Not much bike stock here in Aussie. One of these bikes is available down the road at the LBS and the other one is the only one in the country and is 250kms away.
Whilst I do lots of local rides, we also travel a lot, just did 10,000klms in 6 weeks, so you can't be close to your lbs all the time, although important for pre-trip servicing.
I was looking more for feedback on the bikes themselves

Well, I did decide. A Merida e140 500. Bought a OneUP Components pump and their toolkit. Next step is tubeless. Enjoying it so far. Have not found a cliff yet to try the biggest cog and the boost setting . . . . but looking. I'm sure the red makes it go faster
