Hi everyone I hope someone can help, every time I ride my bike the headset develops play. All bolts are toqued correctly and headset correctly adjusted pre ride.

Found the problem a broken bottom bearing cup, it should have been in one piece!

Glad you found your problem! Just adding that I had some problems in the past with the headset on my Lapierre overvolt - having to constantly adjust it, as it would become either too loose or too tight. When it was first serviced I had the engineer look at it, and he said the bearings were just a cheap single piece block (I have no idea about bearings ...). He replaced them, and the headset has been perfect since then.

Exactly the same thing just happened to my Overvault after just 60 miles. Bearing cup snapped in half.

There must be a faulty batch of FSA headsets about.

I’ve just replaced mine with a Crane Creak one. Fingers crossed that’s problem solved for good.

I had loads of problems with my headset on the overvolt, Every time i took the bike out the headset moved until there was no more room to move and the neck of the frame ended up sitting on the crown of the forks leaving both scratched after just one week old. Turned out they fitted the wrong size headset and they ended up replacing the bike. PS, did your overvolt have suntour forks?

My Overvault has Fox Factory 36s.

I spent yesterday at a trail centre and gave it a proper workout. Performed flawlessly with the new crane creak headset. Incredible bike, very happy.

I had the exact same problem with the lower cup breaking , cased a jump , not that badly , heard a crack , took me the next month to actually work out what it was because as others have said , it would adjust up fine but play would re-appear after each ride ..., found it eventually

This may explain my issues. I’ll get the bearing replaced. Js it easy enough to do yourself? I don’t have a bearing press.

My LBS is sorting mine out. They said it looked like a grenade had gone off. Having a Cane Creek set installed.
