Rebuild battery.

"the bike in question, from a brand he did not identify, was new but about 2-years-old when the shops sold it in December. It was returned two days later because the battery wasn't charging. The shop learned a replacement battery was unavailable, so it sent the battery to a company in Nevada to be rebuilt. After receiving the battery back from Nevada, the shop left the battery charging overnight before the fire".

What do we know?

An unidentified brand of battery, in a battery pack made by an unidentified e-bike manufacturer, which had just been rebuilt by an unknown "battery rebuilder" in Nevada, caught fire the first time the shop tried to charge it.

Presumably, the battery rebuilder in Nevada did not have liability insurance, and neither did the bicycle shop, because now they are begging for money using a GoFundMe account to cover for their ill-fated idea to send the battery to a company not recognized or affiliated with the manufacturer and not taking responsibility for their presumed lack of knowledge about battery systems.

No thank you, I don't think I'll be donating to this kind of idiocy.
