Hi all, a long-time "organic" MTBer who finally bit the bullet and picked up my first eMTB a couple of weeks ago. Originally from Devon/Cornwall, but will have been living in Fribourg, Switzerland for 30 years this coming May. My new ride is a Moustache Samedi OFF2 and I have to say, I'm very happy with it so far, especially as I have to cycle uphill from the front door to get just about anywhere. Main reason for the switch was to keep up with the missus (who just replaced her Bulls something-or-other with a factory refurbished Haibike HardSeven 5) and the plan is to do some longer rides and maybe multi-day tours together; she always complained about having to wait for me at the top of those Swiss hills (cheeky so-and-so). Anyway, I'm a sucker for discussion forums when I start something new, so will be popping in to ask for tips and tricks now and again.
Cheers all,
Paddy

Organic MTBer thats a new one on me , people normally say Analogue there both good thou (y)
Thanks for the welcome. It was a phrase coined by a colleague. I often refer to it as my actin-myosin powered bike. I will still hang on to my Scott Genius for a short, sharp burst on the local trails.

Welcome. This place is full of great people and LOTS of knowledge. That being said, I can't imagine riding an organic mtb ever again. Everything happens way to slow. I was following a couple OMTG guys at Kettle Moraine last weekend and couldn't pass for a while because of the snow...eventually they let me by. It was painful following them.

It’s taken a few years but the acceptance of eMTB’s on our mountain has changed over time. (6 years for me). I was called a “cheater “ but now it’s simply a term of endearment thrown around. That term use to be offensive to me. But now it’s not.

The volunteers and some users are seeing the benefits of a full powered, full suspension eMTB. Trail builders , high-altitude riders, semi disabled, trail addicted riders, young riders, are all seeing the benefits. Many have chosen both types for their stable.

So, if you sit on a chairlift and avoid the uphill are you a cheater?
Some mountains don’t give you that choice (eg. Parts of Whistler) but that could be changing. You must take the lift to reach the summit.
