Just got my 6.7 29er and thinking upgrade the fork.
I know 6.8 is better option and blah blah blah. But i dont want forking out extra Aus$1.1k right now. So want to get the basic one and upgrade step by step.

Fork
Thinking overforking (170mm?) with Lyrik/ Fox 36 or possibly Zeb/38? I'm still new to MTB so need you precious input.
If I want to keep the bb height should I get 44mm offset rather than stock 51mm?

Shock
I think Deluxe Select will be good for me for a while, but any recommend upgrade option so I can keep an eye on used option?

Thanks

Your Fox ebike options will be - Fox 36 up to 160mm travel - 44 & 51mm offset. Fox 38 is 170mm travel upwards with 44mm offset only.
36 is available in Performance and Factory versions while the 38 is Factory only.

I would get a 160mm Zeb Ultimate (assuming in Oz the price difference between that and a 38 is as big as it is in the uk) and put a Meg Neg can on the back.

I got the jam2 6.7 here in aus too.

I swapped out a bunch of parts from my previous bike. Fork was utter garbage. I put a manitou mezzer on it and have it set to 170.

Shock is surprisingly good but I want to put a mara pro on there but unsure if it will fit.

I also swapped out the wheels, stem, bars, dropper and brakes but only because I had better components to use.

I reckon the build was pretty good although my mate has issues with the freehub binding on the stock novatec hubs.

It's an amazing rig, my first ebike. You'll be stoked.

Thank you all for the contribution just one more question, if I get 170mm fork, will the offset change from 51mm to 44 keep the original geometry or will be massive different?

I think upgrading to 170mm will have an affect in the bike geometry. I have a the 6.7nine and I did upgrade the suspension to the Fox 36 performance 160mm and 51mm offset. When researching for fork upgrades, I read many people saying you should never change the offset from the original and in regards of travel, you should only play with a maximum of 10mm up or down.

I also upgraded the Rockshox Deluxe to a Fox DPS Kashima and I’m really happy with the upgrades. It definitely change the riding experience.

I called one of the suspension shop and they suggest I go for 36/Lyrik as I am a lighter rider (80kg with gear)
Also they dont think I need E-bike specific fork as well (weight) ;)
Will see if Im lucky enough to get a good condition used one

Yes - it can be ordered 160mm. I also notice that the Performance Elite version can be done in 150mm as well, although it's not an ebike specific fork

FYI all, pulled my trigger on new Lyrik Ultimate as I found a bargain (compare Aus local price) wiht Nyon reto kit

160mm of travel, 51 offset and 8n yhe ebike configuration, gloss orange is alittle ostentatious 4 me i went the gloss black.

Factory 38 in 51 offset - I thought that they only come in 44 offset

My Focus is matte black - I think that a gloss black fork won't exactly suit it, so it's either non ebike Factory orange or Performance Elite matte black. The only difference in the forks between ebike and non ebike is the damper. And Factory vs Performance Elite is the Kashima coating.

you r right they do only come in 44 offset, I got mine built to suit.. what part of the country u in ?
I have the matt blue focus

I see Cyclinic has them - good prices too - in your neck of the woods too

I am also looking at a new fork for my 27.5 Jam C (came fitted with a 29" 35 Gold RL) and have been offered second hand 27.5 Lyrik Ultimate with both 170 and 180 air springs. Not sure whether I should go for this or spend a bit more on getting a new 38 fork and what travel if I did. Majority of my riding is fairly mellow but would like the bike to be capable for those days I do go a bit harder, lockdown winter weight is getting on for 90kg but 85 more regular. Any advice?
