I saw yesterday a story on Fabian Barel Instagram and he is riding a Canyon bike with Bosch motor on it.

Bosch have a new lightweight ebike motor it seems

Haven't Canyon used bosch motors sometimes in recent times anyway?

I’ve heard rumours that Norco are switching to Bosch, which would make sense considering that they own Live to Play who are the Canadian distributor for Bosch.

Well that would be 👍🏻. There’s a lot of Norco mtb’s around here and the Norco manufacturer/distributor is just down the hill from me.

Some of the Norco workers ride on our hill also.
On another note; I’ve got a Bosch gen4 cx motor I’d like them to see.

I also think in general a lot of people are looking for Bosch motors so it makes sense
Bosch is a massive brand and known for quality in pretty much every area they compete, so that wouldn't be surprising.

Most the other motor manufactures have pretty bad reputations already.
Shimano were giving +2 years warranty because their motors were so bad, doesn't make up for the inconvenience of having to get them replaced all the time though does it.

Yamaha/Giant known for letting in moisture and failing, but probably the easiest to derestrict

Brose/Specialised aren't exactly known for reliability either and them having a belt inside makes them seem unattractive in my opinion.

all the smaller light weight motor brands you have to wonder how long they will be around and how hard is it getting replacements.
wasn';t in fazua at halfords taking 6+ months to get a new motor?

Only problem with Bosch is how hard they are to derestrict with the smart system, but most people probably don't care about that.

This is great news. They definitely lost a sale with me 1.5 years ago when I bought my first EMTB. To me the motor performance on an EMTB is as important as the bike’s geo/performance.

Bosch is a great system but the overall form factor of their system is something they need to work on as well as the battery weight.
Look at the motor/downtube compared to the 900w ep8 setup...much "Slimmer".

Canyon has used Bosch motors for at least a couple of years on their gravel Grail: ON line. I can only assume they have had a good experience with those.

I have two e-bikes with Bosch motors and am a huge fan. My Canyon Grail has the 4th Gen Speed line motor and there is no temptation to de-restrict it since it already provides support up to 28 mph.

What? There will be a Strive:ON with Bosch motor? Sounds very tempting

My experience with Shimano is good, two ebikes with 36,000 km and 21,500 km and no problem.
I will buy a Strive ON with a Bosch motor and I will learn something new for myself.
On EP8 motors?

I work at a shop and I personally know of a dozen EP8's that have been replaced by Shimano. I would be extremely nervous to own an EP8 bike out of warranty.

My first ebike with a E8000 motor was rock solid though.

For the guy(s) who saw the new models at Lake Garda, are you sure there was a new Bosch Neuron?
Seems like the new models are live on the site now but it's only the Grand Canyon and the Strive that have a Bosch motor. I was really excited to hear about a Neuron with a Bosch motor, but so far it doesn't seem like that's coming with today's release?

They have a lot of stock of Neuron:ON 9 EP8 and at the moment they don't want to lower the price.

I really prefer Bosch, but couldn't afford a Bosch-driven Neuron equivalent....so I ordered a Neuron which was delivered last Friday....just in time for me to see the rumours about a Bosch Neuron coming! Typical....
I'd like to be able to compare the specs and prices to see if I send the EP8 one back and buy the new Bosch one, but unfortunately the June 9 release date will be after the 30-day return period for my EP8 bike...so I'm getting in touch with their Support team to see if they can give me a few extra days' leeway. If there isn't a huge price hike and they are the 750Wh batteries, then I will definitely swap....
