This might just be local to me, but the last week being back in France it's amazing how many insects I'm getting splatted with !

I'm not complaining, it's good to see them back. Maybe a mix of less local pesticides and the warm and wet weather - last few days have all been around 34c.

My arms were peppered with them earlier like you use to have on the front of your car or bike helmet/leathers.

Rode back topless from some friends last night and kept riding through clouds of them and feeling like my chest was getting pebble dashed !

I have only had a similar experience when driving along a river. Being dry and super low humidity, we do not see a lot of flying insects here.

A bee hit me square in the eye at around 22-25 mph. My riding glasses saved a nasty nasty non crash related biking injury.

Also gnats, smile and talk with your teeth closed. They don’t die in the human throat. They just wiggle around and produce a cough, gag. Otherwise known as a cag.

Also slugs make a terrible braking surface on rocks. Be warned.

Leeches…. If your riding buddy calls it “his local swimming hole”
Don’t jump in…..

Only swim in bodies of water referred to by a name. Also algae can’t swim, so do with that as you will…….if that algae’s moving……… step back…

Ride on!!!

I’m not bothered by mosquitoes…for some reason. I have a few theories though.

I’ve been stung by wasps and a heard of hornets 🐝 on a few rides. Never took one in the face though, but I still wear riding glasses. 🤓

Benadryl in my first aid kit though. Ya never know who, when of if you’re time comes.
