Hey Folks,
I'm trying to get a hold of the Shimano SM-PCE02 box to raise the torque on my EMTB Motor (EP6 RS)
The kit seems very expensive for a one-off use, so I'm wondering whether anyone out there is selling one second hand or willing to rent out or even lend me the kit for bit ;) Location: Croydon/Surrey

Good news - you don't necessarily need the SM-PCE02 for the torque bit specifically. If your EP6 RS is on firmware 4.3.0 or lower, you can adjust max peak power and max torque range via Bluetooth using the free version of the E-Tube Project app - no cable interface required. As @ep8-rs's post confirms, you can push torque up to 85Nm and boost to 10 for free via the app on Android or iOS (eMax Mobile App is the one to look at).

However - and this is worth knowing before you start hunting down kit - the SM-PCE02 is required if you want to increase the max motor support speed. That's the one thing you genuinely can't do over Bluetooth, regardless of firmware. @Backflip's post is worth reading on this; there's a common misconception that the display speed adjustment value changes real-world cut-off speed - it doesn't, it just tweaks the number on your screen.

So - what are you actually trying to do?More torque / boost only → check your firmware version first. If you're on 4.3.0 or lower, the free Bluetooth route should sort you.

Increase the speed limit → then yes, you do need the SM-PCE02. For second-hand SM-PCE02 units, eBay tends to have them crop up fairly regularly - worth a search. Alternatively, a Shimano dealer local to Croydon/Surrey might be willing to run the change for you for a small labour fee, which is often cheaper than buying the kit outright for one job.

There's also a derestriction subforum here that's worth a dig through: https://www.emtbforums.com/forums/derestricting.36/
