How many eBikes have you had/owned?

The trouble is, not many companies offer rolling warranties - so buy one and you might get 2 years of replacements , lets say 5 brose motors untill you next need to pay and the same every 2 years?

My 2018 giant got a new motor a few weeks before the end of warranty. That motor effectively had no warranty and it's now 2 years later....

My levo sl is approaching the 2 year mark, if I didn't love it so much it would make financial sense to buy another.

Frkit, I can just keep stuffing newspaper in the soles

I'd be happy with the 2 yr warranty with a purchased replacement motor on a used ebike. It's the risk I was happy to take buying used.

Answering the original post. I'm on my 3rd.

I had a Levo sl that I tried using as my only bike and found it didn't quite work.

I had a Vitus that was stolen and I've now just replaced that with 2021 Trek Rail which is an amazing bike so far.

My list of normal bikes is a bit longer but am currently loving having an ebike and a hardail for normal riding duties!

Moving to something new half way through the warranty makes sense if you have the funds - lower risk of having to fund a new battery / motor, you sell with warranty remaining so the next owner is comfortable paying reasonable $

It's the vimes boot theory of bikes

I understand how you think, however, the buyer will eventually have to spend money on the bike when the warranty expires, but yee if you have the money to spend i totaly agree with you.

Three.
A 2017 Powerfly that was replaced under warranty with a 2020 Rail after the frame developed cracks at the lower shock bosses and a Kenevo SL that was a posthumous gift from my late father.

The upgrades to the 2020 Rail 9.7 has probably prevented me from buying a new Rail. At the time I received the Rail (late 2019) the Trek dealer claim it was the first that they had seen. (Heard that before 🙄). Over the past few years I’ve added the bling which has probably cost me thousands of $. Let’s just say they all knew me by name at the LBS’s. 🤔. Soon after I added a his/hers Powerfly 5’s after I sold the road and 2 gravel bikes. Most of this happened pre-pandemic but during the eBike craziness.
I consider myself lucky with the motors and batteries but I expect someday those will fail too.

I had a 2019 Vitus E-Sommet, the bottom spec with E7000 motor as my 1st ebike, I changed most stuff on it & eventually sold it very cheap to a good mate, now have a 2021 M20 Rise, have changed everything on that but had all the parts already, this bike is amazing

2019 Scott eride Genius 920 - Shimano E8000 504Wh battery. Great bike but I was severely limited by the 504Wh battery. About 1500km use.
2019 Levo Comp - 700Wh battery. Reasonable bike, but way over-priced. Ditched it after a motor failure. About 600km use.
2020 Scott eride Genius 900 Tuned. 625Wh battery is giving me enough range to be useable. 3500km use. Only issue has been endless broken spokes.
Arriving next week - Avanti LT. G4 CX with 625Wh battery. My 900 Tuned desperately needs a suspension service and as the suspension will be away 1 - 2 weeks I needed a ride. Price wise the Avanti was specced better than anything close to is in price - only thing with Zeb forks is over $2k more.

Good number of bikes though. Used to have 3 - 8 at any one time, but until the new one arrives only 1 in the garage.
Unfortunately thats not all at the one time, though for a while i did have 5. Thats been across my cycling history, all lovingly assembled from snips/ebay tat to showroom by myself. Currently Ive only the two, a nice build Cove Stiffee and the genius 920 ebike

1) Started with a 2017 Levo Comp in green.
2) Then got a good deal on a 2018 Carbon Comp in Red/Black
3) Kenevo Comp came along and couldn't resist
4) Now on a 2018 S-Works Levo!

All the bikes I have owned have been part-exd/sold and bought new. Unfortunatley don't have the funds to have more than one on the go or I would!?
2007 Trek 6500 hardtail new
2008 Cannondale prophet 2nd hand
2011 Giant anthem new
2017 Trek fuel ex 8 new
2019 Focus jam2 new

Just realised i rode that anthem for 6 years ...and only 2 years on emtb. I suggest most people started analogue...

2 so far.

A full fat Cube which confirmed to me I needed one in my life and as a result went out more often, to different places and dramatically increased my mileage and skill level and then more recently an Orbea Rise which has increased all the preceding again plus my wife now uses the Cube so get away with going out even more.

I have 8 bikes in the bike cave but only one E-bike. My wife took a spin on my Levo and now wants to sell her SB140 for her own Levo. I guess we’ll have 2 here soon.

Well, I have 2. My 83-year-old Father Bought an FLX F5 Trail, but he barely rode it. So I took it over and rode it a few hundred miles. It was great on the road, but anywhere else it was so uncomfortable. It had the touring package which is ok. The FLX had a Shimano Deore 6100 1x10, & magura MT5E brakes which are what really shined for such a cheap Ebike. The M600 engine was great, but 125miles in the torque sensor went, & FLX never replied to our e-mails. 4 weeks later, and over a dozen e-mails, they say they are shipping out new motor, & Harness for us. But Both never showed, so we ordered a Torque sensor on greenebikekit.com or something like that and fixed it ourselves. It's run perfectly ever since, though it has a lot of upgrades on it now. It's still a pretty basic Hardtail touring bike, with thin 2.4 tires which I didn't care for.

Now I own a LUNA X2 Ludicrous V2, which I received on 08/17/2022 & I love outperforms just about anything on the trail, & I road 30 miles in PAS3 with power at 1500watts peak & PAS at 86% & when I got home I still had 31% battery left, but she was hot at 94degrees. The last climb was 2 miles which is as steep as it gets for roads. So I had to take it slow. I ride with my Brother who owns s Bakcou Mule Ultra M620 engine and that thing is a beast. It never stops putting out power. Downhill, I'd be free peddling 0 resistance & he is still gaining speed. The mule is 80lb's my X2 is 54lbs, with all the upgrades I'm around 51-52lbs now. If I was to buy a gravel, enduro track, or ROAD bike with an Ultra motor I'd buy either LUNA Z1(ship engine out during offseason to watt wagons for Archon X1 installation.) Or If I am really well off, & had no really money limit. I'd buy the Watt Wagons Hydra Archon X1 Build. I'd still want to own my X2 ludicrous V2, & the HPC Revolution AT with the Rohloff if I had unlimited funds.

Attached are Photos of my X2 Ludicrous 2500watt M600 by Luna Cycles, & all the upgrades I've made over time. Most recent was the RaceFace Chainring.

If Anyone has any advice for me. Please let me know.
Current X2 setup-

BAR=31.8mm Originally 810MM, but was cut to 762mm
Stem-Truvativ Atmos 7K 70mm +6 Degree
Dropper Post-PNW Components 170mm Rainier Gen 3 w/Travel Adjust
Grips-Ergon GA3 standard size
Chainring-Purple RaceFace Atlas 38T Chainring
Pedals-OneUp Oil Slick 1 Size.

Planned Upgrades to come- Raceface ARC35 or ARC40 Offset HD Rims, w/ Industry 9 Hydra hubs(J Spoke, XD or Microspline) May Upgrade drivetrain to GX Eagle setup(Run XD driver), or I may decide to go to the easier to shift & more comfortable Shimano XT Deore 8100, but only after the warranty expires or a part goes bad can I change the drivetrain, so HUB must be able to swap the drivers from HG+ to XD or MicroSpline. Heard a ton about Shimano LinkGlide, but so far the power on this Tuned M600 isn't comparable to the Ultra motor. Nor can it climb faster than ULTRA. If the salesman said to me, that the Z1 will climb and go faster on the throttle than the m600 up & down hill which is the actual fact. I'd have a Z1 right now, & bought the X2 next year. But I was misinformed, by accident I'm sure. So I will own a third E-Bike Eventually. No matter what, I'd own an X2 for downhill E-bike and higher-difficulty trails.

Love the X2 Ludicrous but when riding with people with ULTRA motors, or cyclones, I just can't keep up.

What does your trek Rail 9.8 GX AXS weigh out of curiousity. Also if you run Trek Rail at max power how much range do you get? I considered that bike at one time. Would love to hear from someone who owns it.

I had the same questions and more. I think once it’s all broken in I should be able to get 24-25 miles in Turbo with a good amount of climbing. My daily loop is 18 miles and I’ve come back with 34% of my battery….I’m about 200lbs. That’s with 3000ft of climbing and an average mph of 11.5-11.6. I’m very consistent. It seems like the new Bosch system has sort of a break in period. My Mondraker has the same exact version of the Smart System. That’s why I bought the Rail….that and the fact that it can be run as a Mullet. I hated the bike until I could get it set up properly but now I really like it. It shreds and is out of this world good as a Mullet. It’s not the poppiest bike that I’ve ever ridden but it handles great, turns great, and bombs rough terrain. It’s every bit as good as my Levo Pro although the Levo does beat the Trek in some ways….mostly things like integration and the app. The Rail is a little heavier too. I bought my 9.8 with carbon wheels right off the bat and I think it’s 51-52lbs. The Zeb select+ fork is not that great but I have to admit that, on the Rail, it works great. I have a factory 38 to throw on and I’m really not sure if it’s necessary. The new Rail is definitely not as the Loam Wolf described it. I honestly don’t think they took the time to set it up right. If they used Treks set up recommendations it’s no wonder why they didn’t really like it. It went from bike of the year 2 years running to back of the pack. I’m glad that I didn’t pay attention to their review.
