Hi everyone, thanks for adding me ๐Ÿ˜Š I just purchased my first emtb Trek Rail 9 GX/2022. A lot of good info here ๐Ÿ‘
Thanks to Rob for sharing his Rail upgrades, such a big help that he have the opportunity to try so many bikes and share his experiences with us ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘, so that we can use them as an idea/start point for upgrades. I upgraded the same after I saw his video, same suspension as the bike comes with, just longer 170/160 as Trek Slash use, and Burgtec high rise 50. Such a lovely bike has become. Sad that Trek doesn't let us choose travel suspension when we order ๐Ÿ˜”. Not everyone needs shorter travel suspension and of course not everyone needs longer either, it should be optional.

Wow, almost impossible to find a 2022 Rail here. The LBS in California are saying either mid April or July/Aug. some into next year! Iโ€™m waiting on a Rail 9.9 XX1 and have had the delivery pushed back twice. Enjoy your ride it looks great, I like the rear fender you added, what brand is that?

The showroom/floor, at the LBS, gets a about 5-6 Rails every couple of weeks. Those are sold within days. A small sized Rail is definitely a special order. A medium sized Rail is hit/miss.

Iโ€™m not sure if Trek is still requiring full payment on bike orders? Thatโ€™s fine but I only deposited a few hundred $ when I ordered back in 2019.
As far as ordering parts, Iโ€™m gonna explore some other shops. Money matters and I want it asap.

Awesome, I'll grab those when I finally get my bike. Let us know what you think after your first few rides. Your bike has the new Bosch Smart System with the larger capacity battery, post your thought on the phone integration, etc.....
Unfortunately the 9 GX/2022 ( Rail 9 GX | Trek Bikes (GB) )comes with just 625 Wh not the 750 Wh like the more expensive ones i 9 series ๐Ÿ˜”

Looks great Tartam!

What size bike are you running? And have you left the Mino Link in low or moved it to the High position?
How much clearance do you have between seat stay and post at full compression?
As for the fork - was it just a air shaft upgrade in the stock Zeb? Or did you upgrade the damper too?

Have a 9.8 on order and will be looking to do the same mods fairly quickly.

Tks man ๐Ÿ‘ It's Medium size, Mino Link is still in low, it feels good and comfortable like this for me even on flat or soft climbings, I didn't try it yet out in the woods on hardcore terrain, we still have snow here in Norway, I am very curios/excited to, to see how will ride/perform there  and if I need to go for High. I bought the fork from someone who upgraded his fork to, and is exactly the same ZEB Select + as Rail comes with, but it's 170/180 mm instead of 150/160 that Rail comes with, it just has a smaller crown than the original but it's just a small aesthetic difference not functional which for me doesn't really matter. Same for the rear shock 230x62.5 instead of 230x57.5 found it on eBay RockShox Rear Shock Super DLX Thru Shaft RCT Progressive, MREB/MCOMP- 230 X 62.5 | eBay
I didn't checked yet clearance, I will come back later when I find out ๐Ÿ‘

Good call! Make sure you check it as it could be a tight clearance especially in the "low" position on a size M.

I was curious to, so I just took a quick check just to make an idea. I took the air out and it seems like I have to go in high, not sure yet, I will see when I take out the rear fender, but like this, the seat it's to high, it's stays in the way for me, I need it completely down, it's to early to know,I have to ride it in the woods later to be sure.

Seat stay clearance looks good
Shock reservoir clearance looks good
Seat will be an issue - could try removing the mudguard and moving it forward in the rails a bit.
Possibly have to go into the 'High' Mino link position i think, as a bonus i believe you will get an extra 5-6mm of travel in the rear when you do so.

Is that at full compression btw Tartam? 4th Pic looks like there might be some travel left in the shock

I will get another/proper one with full compression/seat in the middle and without rear fender, later ๐Ÿ‘. But as you say it's possible that it is a must to go in High.

How did you get on with this Tartam? I saw you asking about a different bike in another post, so I'm guessing not good?

Don't be too worried putting it in the high position, with a longer fork out front the geo would be very similar to stock numbers.

I didn't have time to check the clearance yet, I was just wondering if I must to set in High and if it's possible to keep the same slack'nes of the bike as in Low. In theory should work well as you say, should be similar with stock numbers, specially with the new Zeb which can be set for 170mm (lfor light trails) and 180 mm for very steep descents. I really like the bike so I hope that I can keep it and don't need to go for Level R or Pole Voima ( most likely that these are good bikes to). As I said is to early to know I have to wait until May/June, when the snow it's gone out there in the woods ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ™ƒ

I'm not interested to make videos with my rides, but I found someone else on YouTube who made short videos with local trails around here where I ride often, just to see why I need slack/long travel/good ground clearance :) ๐Ÿ‘
