Hard wiring lights - EP801

Just a quick question - If you hard wire lights to the EP801 does it reserve any battery power from the main battery.
I'm sure I heard that when you plug into Bosch is sets aside 10% of the battery power for lights.

Shimano motors also reserve a percentage of the battery charge for the lights. Riding without lights is a safety concern, so all motor manufacturers do the same, else they could risk being sued in case of accident caused by the lights powered off.
