Future EMTB: More power & range or lightweight (15-20kg)?

The limiting range factor there will be the battery on the electric gears , the sram is useless
Really? SRAM claim a 60 hour life per charge for the AXS battery so even at half that time it won't will an issue and carrying a spare battery at approx £35 and 24g wouldn't be an problem.
If set up correctly i.e. RTFM the AXS gives faultless fast smooth changes. Obviously it's an expensive solution but that's no reason to dismiss it if people are happy to spend the money, Tesla sell plenty of cars despite the Ford Fiesta existing.

Oops thanks,
I probably read something in the past about it then a few years later imagined it was not thought of yet.

I have a gates belt drive bike, and would not consider it a great option for off road use - the most off road action mine has seen is what you might call "gravel" riding, but they can get gunked up pretty easily and in anything other than dry conditions would be a pita in my opinion.
