Free hub bearings

The bearings in the freehub of my Trek Rail are running rough and annoying me ( I think Trek must fit the cheapest bearings they can source as I have had problems with others). Now I could buy a new freehub unit for £80 to £90 or I could replace the three bearings for £15 and as the freehub body is in perfect condition I've opted for the latter.

I am thinking that as these are very thin bearings (5 mm) they will be very difficult to press into position without the appropriate tool. I don't have such a tool but wonder, if I put the freehub body in the oven whilst my wife cooks Sunday lunch will this expand the metal sufficiently to increase tolerances slightly making it easier to fit the new bearings?

Any thoughts?

It is worth it, it will pay for itself in bearings that dont get wrecked via poor install.

It makes pressing very easy and accurate. Comes with loads of different fittings for diff sizes.

Heat the hub, put the bearings in the freezer, job jobbed.

That is a very generous offer, but it is not the sort of "free" freehub bearings I would want!
