Fox 36 Performance with the QR axle. Only done 4 rides on them, totalling around 56 miles.

As you can hear in the video linked below, they're making an annoying rattle noise. I don't think it's the brake pads as it still does it with the front brake applied.

Axle is tight and the pinch bolt is torqued to spec.

It doesn't sound like bushing knock.

Any ideas?

Excuse the mess of the basement floor btw :D

The noise sounds sharp, as though it is not inside the fork. What else could it be? Start tying up stuff or even removing to stop it rattling, even what you think might be unlikely (like hoses and cables).

Does it do it with the bike upside down?

Yeah I don't think it's internal either. I know what bushing play sounds like from my old Lyriks and it's a totally different noise.

I haven't tried it with the bike upside down, but I'll give that a shot.

I'll also try with the wheel out and with the cable taped down.

I sounds like it's coming from the axle, but sound travels weirdly on bikes. I had 36 Rhythms on my last bike and they had the standard Kabolt (non-QR) axle, and they had no weird noises!

I've just had a thought it might be end caps on the hub too so I'll check those are tight.

I mention it because it happened to me! Swapping the fork and forgot to check if I'd tightened the brake calliper bolts properly. I hadn't!

Solved it! The culprit was the rebound cap/cover! Could have sworn I'd nipped it up nice and tight but clearly not :D

Nice find- I was going to suggest the rebound knobs. You should not have that issue on a new fork but crap happens in Taiwan. We get many folks calling after doing their own lowers on Grip2 series dampers. When installing the rebound knobs they need to be set open (full anti clockwise) before install.
