Fork knock block necessary on size Medium Levo Expert?

I know, I know, they put it on there, so it must be right? Took mine off to check and seems like the Rockshox Pike crown and knobs clear pretty well. I can't see that the headtube, steerer tube or fork crown would flex so much that it could hit. Thoughts? Not a big deal, just don't love the look of it, and sometimes do want to steer it more than what the block allows.

My "Knock block" broke in half during a slow speed crash - strangely it's only plastic inside, not metal. I checked the fork clearance, and the compression damping adjuster on my Rockshox Lyric just touches - and adjusts itself at the same time, so I've machined a small chamfer around the edge of the adjuster which seems to give it enough clearance.

i took off mine months ago. i hate having it there.

Had a bad crash yesterday. Bars spun all the way around. Cleared no problem. Wrist and knee didn't fare as well. Darn
