Forbidden Druid - Avinox Powered

He’s in Uk so end July is earliest but could be any time through to September… I’m thinking of pulling trigger too. Where did you order from?
Cyclehighlands in Ballater for mine. Seems the S4s are harder to get but luckily they had an S4 in their first order. Late August for mine bit could maybe be earlier, fingers crossed.

Good blast on Heartbreak Ridge will bed mine in though 👌

What I was told by a local dealer today:
For the US, if you are already on the list, you might have luck with the small July batch. Otherwise, seems like it's fall at best.
Pretty similar to what I was told here Downunder. If I got in early with my order there is a chance that the bike will get in mid year as there are two order groupings. Order 1 which is submitted straight away and will get filled first. Not sure what defines the "second" order, however that is slated for end of year. The AD also thought that order fulfillment may also hinge on what you have ordered. They think the Druid Core will be more popular and may therefore get filled first and then it may also come down to what size and spec you ordered. It's all a bit complex.

As we say at work... there will be a fair bit of "hurry up and wait" going on. For some here that won't suffice and they will just buy another bike, and I respect that. I'm happy to wait because I suspect that unless you are happy to run with the Amflow, no matter what other brand you pick that will run the DJI, there will be a waiting period.

On my Amflow I have a custom / beta app, that allows setting max watts in each mode. In Turbo with it set at 850 watts, its both much faster than my Bosch Gen 5, but uses battery so much quicker (for obvious reasons!). In Trail I have it set at 600w and lower Nm (this pretty much matches the Bosch in terms of power and feel).

The feature of the mega power on Amflow results in the battery getting used really quickly, but, dial it down to Bosch level (600w) and then its actually quite close.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that its all just physics: more power = more battery drain. I dont think there's *that* much difference in the efficiency between the two motors.
@Rob Rides EMTB, Will you be reviewing the new Druid in the near future?

Next question is size. I'm 5'8" and on the edge of M & L
The S2 is similar to My Wild in many dimensions except the stack.
The S3 grows some measurements a LOT.

Thinking the S2 but the reach is still very short. The RAD is also short.

Forbidden mentions the sizing is the same throughout their lineup. Im 5'7 and on a s2 druid and dread. Im guessing you would be on a s2 as well.

Not my Cuppa but it’s getting good reviews

that's an outlook or an opinion piece max. a review is when you have the actually bike ridden and talk about it. geez
In the last Para the person that rode bike gives his opinions and reasons for such. Ok it’s not got a video to support, but I don’t see why his opinions based on time spent riding the bike can’t be considered a review, albeit a short one.

He’s talking about the analog version not the new e-bike. I’m keen for actual rider reviews, guess they don’t have enough bikes to be able to give to reviewers. Its a big expense for smaller companies giving bikes away for weeks then having to move them on as used

this, reading comprehension is lacking big times these days, as is using common sense

This is what has prevented me from getting one ordered.
But the seat tubes aren't super short. I'm my case, if I size up, I'd lose a lot of dropper post length.
This is a bike I'm going to need to either ride or at least read several trusted reviews before moving forward. At which point, they will be sold out for a year

The Reach is not short because it is the real reach! With the high stack you need less spacer under the stem...

If you have less stack and add some spacers the reach get smaller-> 10mm Spacer is around -4mm Reach

Example: Santa Vala has 456mm Reach in Medium low, add 20mm spacer under the stem, you will have around 448mm real reach.

Then I stand corrected..
It’s not a brand I follow or have any interest in other than the DJI motor. I assumed that article above was based on a previous, earlier version of one of there EMTBs.

Cool to see all the geo chat and stoke in here for this one. I'm confident in my choices and can't wait for the bikes to get to Wellington, NZ in September. I've got S3 Druid CorE Slated Tier 1 (for me), S4 Druid CorE Electric Teal Tier 2 (had a customer in mind but a keen bean spoke up), S3 Druid LitE Ride the Lightening Tier 3 (still available) coming.

Eagerly awaiting my ecore in Rotorua. Have you had the shipping date confirmed?
Nice. Bike will go hard in Rotorua. September is what I'm working with. I'll let the distributor return from the States and settle back into life before I reach out to hear all the juicy details. 45km/hr assist is the nugget that I've been most excited about lately. ;)

What's the assist limit in NZ?

No limit as far as I am aware but Shimano motors can be purchased set at 45 and Dji will be the same. I currently run a bosch with a speedbox set at unlimited but 45 would be plenty enough. I don't hit anything where I need to be pedaling faster than that. At least I don't think I do

45km/h is a class 3 ebike. Are you sure a Shimano motor in an EMTB can be set to 45km/h?

I was under the impression in Europe the DJI motor cuts out at 25km/h and the rest of the world it's 32km/h, never heard of people being able to set it to 45km/h.

Different rules in every country I guess

Yeah, it's very much regionally based. Depending on your country (and even state at that) there are varying rules around maximum speeds, peak power etc. Hence why the mobile VPN trick, where you change your location to NZ then log into the app and set your location. The app then limits the motor to what I was thought was 30kph rather than 25kph that appears to be the norm everywhere else.

As far as speed is concerned, my Santa Cruz/Bafang hybrid has a 1000w motor and I've limited it to 40kph. I've hit that once going down hill, wind behind me on a suburban road during Covid lockdown (had the road to myself and was using the bike as a commuter as well as a mtb) and that was way fast enough. Can't see myself doing anything more than 30kph down some fire road or track on dirt.... that would just be asking for trouble and inviting way too much hurt into my life!!

I just preordered one from a local forbidden dealer near me in germany. He said he'll get a list sometime next week, which model, colour and sizes he will get at which time. They seem to be pretty limited in germany as well.
Went with the S4 size Druid Core 3 in electric teal and will switch over the good hope parts from the "old" ebike I used for the last 3 years (Giant Reign E+ 2022 model). I like that it comes with a lot of forbidden parts (steam, saddle, stem, grips), but I am just a little Forbidden fanboy. Currently already owning a 2021 Dreadnought and 2024 Druidv2. Both as framekits and built them up custom.
If the ebike performs as well as both pedalbikes plus that avinox system.. Holy hell will that will be fun :)

As for the components. I actually like the lowest trim the best. Both select+ suspension components are ok and will most likely be swapped at some point anyways. Wheels I like alloy more than carbon and I do not need wireless transmission. Brakes will be swapped for the Hope Tech4 of the old ebike plus some other parts.
I am a little bit hyped here :)
I actually really like the idea of increasing the stack height, while slowing decreasing reach. The dreadnought feels longer than the druidv2 after I have been pedaling the druid mostly on hometrails for the last year. The druid core ebike increases a bit in stack again while lowering reach comparing S4 core to S4 druidv to XL dreadnought making it a bit more in upright seating position and probably a bit better on steep descents, while keeping most of the initial geometry.
