Forbidden Druid - Avinox Powered

Anyone actually talk to anyone on the inside at Forbidden as to why the limited quantities?

Probably a combo of:
1. Limited number of units promised/delivered by DJI
2. Forbidden dramatically underestimated demand
3. It just takes time to get bikes made (simplest & most likely)

I should have asked at Sea Otter. I'd guess that they put in initial orders a long time ago, and it's super risky for a small company to order a ton of inventory.

I initially put in an order for a S3 but I think I need to change it to S4, I'm 6'1" with a long reach. What is everyone's opinion on sizing down or try to stay true to the recommendations?

it's hard to say as there is a lot of factors at play. the edruid has high stack, shorter reach, a very low BB, and short crank length on the core(150mm). one would think just by looking at the geo chart that it will feel cramped and unweight the front end but it is high pivot so the chainstay will lengthen and distribute the rider weight to the front even on flatter trails.

The thing I am most concerned or at least apprehensive about is the low bb height. It will be by far the lowest I have owned and i must admit the thought of hanging up on some rollovers is giving me a few nightmares. I do like 150 cranks though. I have 155 on my current bike but I kinda wish I had gone smaller

I don't think the BB is that low. I have a bike ~3mm lower and I rarely tickle my bash guard. I occasionally hit my crank pedaling through rocks, but they're 165's. Wouldn't be concerned.

I have been riding the Giant Reign E+ 2022 which has a bb height of 329mm in low setting, so around 7mm less than the druid core. I actually found it hard at first to cope with the tight clearance and had a lot of pedal strikes and strikes against the engine cover.. The Giant came with 165mm Praxis cranks though. After a nasty crash after which they indeed bent quite a bit beyond repair, I bought some 160mm ones. It is ok now, still get some pedal strikes though.
For me personally having the clearance of the core druid will be ok, not sure though if I can get used to 150mm cranks though. I actually like running 175mm cranks on my pedalbikes.

Well, this escalated quickly. After all that chatter about limiting the power of the motors, DJI quietly dropped this in the latest firmware update.
We'll be positively motoring up those slopes 🤣

Originally we were talking about electrical assistance, nowadays the rider provides a light assistance to the bike :ROFLMAO:

I did like to see that easy gravel drifting at the start of the e-lite ride. That tells me that the geo of that bike is right on point and balanced, just how I like it. 😋

I wonder if they’ll bring out the longer travel version with the smaller battery at some point.

Great way to debut the eDruid being ridden. 150/160 Druid is all you’re gonna need.

Respect to Brian riding those trails blind on an unfamiliar bike. Ollie looking like a guy who you can trust with bike design.

Wow, I concur with @DirkWisely, the Core will be more than enough bike for what I am doing these days. Winter is setting in here and the riding will slow right down, so that video really got me fired up. Can't wait to see what his thoughts are after he has digested it all.
So to the next point... where's my farkin bike?? Is it here yet, seriously, it's been two weeks since I ordered it. What's takin' it so long. I want it now!!!

I was at Forbidden’s headquarters today to see the guys. The shop I work at is a Forbidden dealer so I stopped in to say hi.

A lot of the guys there are 6’2” and even one of them is 6’4” and they were saying they love the S3 size. At 6’1” I see no reason why you wouldn’t enjoy riding it.

Well shit now I'm wondering if I should get an s2 instead of an s3 at 5'11"

Pretty convinced s3 will be fine I have long arms and body so need the stack and reach.

Anyone shed any light on this the charger looks like a slower version than the standard one for the amflow:

Hahah I’m sat here with the same thought… got an s3 core 1 on order and I’m same height as you

I'm the same height (I'm guessing the most popular MTB height) and also went S3. You'll be fine, just slam the stem and use lower rise bars. S2 will be too short, also helpful to look at the effective top tube measurement. 622 is on the top side of my range, 599 TT would be too cramped (~612 would be my ideal).

I have been riding tall stack bikes for the last few years (Raaw, Banshee, Privateer). Built up a v2 Druid this spring after finding one of the remaining sale frames on a whim and have a mountain of spacers on it since the reach is too long and the stack is too low. Pretty sure v3 Druid will have eDruid geo carry over.

Yeah checked in with the shop today. Looks like bike is being shipped with the small charger and the fast one will be sold as an aftermarket extra dissapointingly

Just what I wanted to hear. I'm 6'2" and was pretty confident with the S3 I have ordered being right for me. Brian Cahill saying that @ 6'1" he was happy on an S3 was another corroborating bit of evidence earlier today. I pored over the numbers but for me, it came down to knowing that it's rare I prefer the biggest-sized bike in any platform. I was banking Forbidden making S4s to fit those 6'4" fellas. If it fits them, it's a size (if not two) larger than I will prefer. If their 6'4" rider is enjoying S3 - party on!!!
