Done 10 rides now. Mostly all been recorded ok.
The 4th ride didn't record the route on the map.
The 9th ride did record but not following the actual route. Just tracing vaguely in the right direction with one wildly out detour of a few miles!
Today the 10th ride and again no route on map.
When it doesn't record there is also insufficient data on the elevation report.
Iphone is set to allow app to use location services.

Any ideas?

Just curious if you watch it real time during ride or if phone is just in your pack and check afterwards?

Good question! I have phone in my pocket.
I did a bit of googling and only discrepancy I had was that my phone location services was ticked only while using app. Yesterday I changed it to always allow. I did two rides and both recorded everything as normal.
Going to try again later today. Fingers crossed it’s sorted but it’s strange how it worked at first.

That' makes perfect sense. A friend doesn't use the Flow App to record rides because she experienced the same symptoms that you originally reported. I'll suggest she review her settings. Thx.

It recorded todays foray with no issues!

I put my flow into unrestricted battery too along with the always allow location, recordings have been great since.

Same happened to me on Saturday - my location were set to 'only while using app'

I had the same problems with the Flow app. Make sure to allow the app to use location and disable auto-kill — the app should always run in the background. Just make sure Android doesn’t kill it.

If it’s any consolation, my Flow app sometimes loses connection with the bike. iPhone says it’s connected to bike; Kiox says it’s connected to iPhone, but Flow app says disconnected. 🤷‍♂️. Never got to the bottom of it. I shut down the app and relaunch and all is OK but data lost for ride. Happily my default is my Garmin so I can live with it.

The Flow GPS tracks from my first two rides were a hot mess. However the total distance was pretty close, not sure how it did that. I changed my Flow Location settings to "Allow All The Time" from "Only While Using The App". Looking for the battery and auto-kill settings also, haven't found those yet. Fingers crossed that will do the trick, thanks for the ideas in this thread.

Luckily my Garmin Venu 2 does a great job of tracking everything except bike-specific things like cadence, power, etc. Sure wish the Flow app would talk to my Garmin gear.

Location change to "Allow All The Time" fixed the issue. Made test runs with and without that checked and it is definitely the problem. Thanks!

Since about 12 April 2025 I have had a problem with Flow and the recorded traces. The Garmin Edge records an accurate track:

A Flow something like this:

Flow has location set: always allow, use exact location. The app is not paused, it has permission to use the battery in the background without restriction.

Before 12 April (older version of the app) the trace was being recorded correctly. Now, as you can see, not only is it spotty from time to time, but also with a completely wrong GPS position.
As far as I can remember, this has to do with updating Flow to version 1.26.9, in the previous version I had no problems with the track recording.

Whilst the trace on mine can be a few yards out, the app has been recording normally without the long spikes that I used to get before making the app to always on. The 1.26.9 update didn't change anything for me.
